The Ford Effect Hits Ruby Dhalla?

Has Toronto's rightward shift that elected Rob Ford as mayor spilled over to federal politics? If it wasn't worrisome to the Liberals to lose their stronghold in Vaughan to Julian Fantino, they have to be really worried that their staffers in the Toronto area have started defecting to the Tories, jumping off the Titanic before it sinks. The team is collapsing, and these guys are saying that it is time for an election? Good luck with that. They have been wasting money on these ridiculous field trips Iggy is taking across the country like he's some kind of tourist. Watch as Iggy meets Canadians outside of Toronto for the first time in his life! Of course he looks wide-eyed and excited, this is the first time he's seeing most of these places!

I seem to have gotten off topic. Anyway, Ruby Dhalla is losing staffers to the Tories. That's a great story. Fantastic even. Can Ignatieff even win Etobicoke Lakeshore? He's not too far away from Ruby Dhalla's riding, and Iggy's constituents voted mostly for Rob Ford.

Think about it.

PS: My use of the word hit is not intended to imply assassination. The use of hit is in the meaning of "to collide with". Just so you don't get the wrong idea.

  1. Like an oasis in the desert. Always welcome to a thirsty individual who will appreciates the cool lagoon and a rest from the ongoing cement jungle.
The knitting is starting to unravel and we all know where that ends.
Next thing you know, the Cons will have their majority...

  2. I see the I Ruby story is gone from NNW today, once the effidence that she lied, once again, was posted.

Maybe the caregiver story is still in the voters minds?

  3. It is pause for thought.

Add to it a female "star" candidate resigning in the GTA(after being appointed no less) their strategy of visiting 20 near won ridings is
fantasy. They are in a battle it would seem just to hang on to some of their seats in the GTA.

  7. You're a disingenuous twit for implying that these are 'staffers'. These are volunteers who were elected to their posts by their fellow FLA members. There is actually nothing to see here - aren't the Cons always the ones crying 'overblown' on issues like Helena, Maxime, Goodyear, etc.? Of course, you're a semi-anonymous blogger and I'm an semi-anonymous poster so neither of us can be held accountable for our statements. However, mine is truth and yours is not.

  10. Guess you guys haven't seen these posted by IRuby : http://twitpic.com/3rija5 and http://twitpic.com/3rl5xl Who is Parm Gill's comm's director? Don't these people fact check or do they just take the word of anyone who walks of the street and says "I'm on a riding association"?

  12. Anon, thank you for all your clicks today. When I say staffer, that refers to people who work on the campaign (paid or otherwise). You can be both a volunteer and a staffer by my definition.

    Relax...

  13. IRuby has done a reveal on her elitist stripes to her constituents. You can bet that, although nannygate was swept under the rug by the Iggytourist and the media, she lost the $10/hr. crowd, women, the middle class (who can not afford to have help) as well as educated voters who do not approve of exploitation of staff and buy fair trade products. The values cut across all segments: you just never abuse staff. The defensive committee appearances did her in, for sure (Dr. vs. ordinary workers). There has been no good news exoneration either (the TorStar would have been all over it, had there been any good news), which leaves the story of the workers on the table as being the most credible. Those voters will not forget.

She did not win by a wide margin in 2008, so Parm Gill already has heavy and credible support. He will win, with some votes going to the NDP.

  14. Therefore, it is not about Ford at all: it is about Canadian values. We do not condone exploiting workers.
