Ignatieff The Family Guy

The Liberals released their party platform on Friday which they are calling "The Family Pack". It is to the point where the current CTV news loop they're covering the announcement of a Tory athletic tax credit proposal with the headline "Liberals unveil family pack platform". Of course the Liberal platform also contains little nuggets from the Conservative budget. Iggy Poppins was on stage talking about the home reno tax credit like he just thought about it! The coverage he's getting from the media is generally positive from CTV and CBC, though John Ivison at the National Post did write "buyer beware".

Earlier fellow blogger Chasing Apple Pie was sarcastically comparing Ignatieff to Mary Poppins, but I think he might be more of a Peter Griffin. "Where are those good old fashion values on which we used to rely? 'Iggy' is a family guy! Lucky there's a man who, positively can do, all the things that make us...laugh and cry! He's a family guy!"

  1. The Family Pack? Thought they had given up with the beer and popcorn.

  2. Is this family pact a new "Family Compact" or is it a family Coalition? Time for a new mini revolution (a la Alexander MacKenzie) to remove the power of this new modern natural ruling party. The Liberals, perhaps unwittingly, think they are a reincarnated Family Compact from pre confederation Toronto.

  3. Jim Flaherty said Iggy has no numbers for pharmacare, which is hugely expensive and a few other things. Its a multimillion dollar budget which people will pay ,through their taxes. He said Ignatieff will kill jobs and his budget looks like it was written on the back of an envelope.(A brown envelope?).

  4. I wouldn't worry about the lieberals putting a cost on anything they announce. They will never implement any of them but WILL tax the hell out of Canadians to pay for lieberal pet projects. "LIEBERALS LIE" have Canadians no memory of this show we have witnessed many times before. Are we really that stupid??

  5. Who better to spout family values than one who deserted their wife/children. To all those journalists who love to toss grenades to Stephen Harper, how 'bout askin' ol' Iffy why he suddenly cares about families. Maybe they could ask, "Hey, Michael, do you really care about families? If so, why did you leave yours"? You know they would ask Harper that.

  6. Calling the Liberals family-friendly would be like saying that Hamas is Jewish-friendly.

  7. As far as programs are concerned I don't have an objection to payments to individuals if they are justified. The problem is that anything the Libs propose will require governement employees and Union members to implement. Money rarely gets to people if the Government runs things.
