Iggy Should Take GST Hike Off The Table
One of the most damaging Ignatieff sound bites that the Conservatives have aired in multiple televisions ads is "I will not take a GST hike off the table". Mike, you might want to think about taking that GST hike off the table, because people get very angry when you raise their taxes. Granted, it might be too late for Iggy to make a major campaign shift, as I don't think many Canadians are paying much attention to him now. You gotta think of something quick, may as well rule out increasing sales taxes.

"it might be too late for Iggy to make a major campaign shift"
ReplyDeleteWhy, he seems to have changed everything else once or twice.
What you mean is "It might be too late for Iggy to make a major campaign shift that will have any effect", right?
ReplyDeleteWouldn't mean a thing if Iggy did take it off the table. He would go ahead and do it, anyway. You forget, Liberals lie! Remember Chretien, "NO GST!"
ReplyDeleteWell, why don't the Cons just drop it again, say to 3%? It's only April 26th. They've got a week until election day.
ReplyDeleteIf Iggy's going to raise the GST, then I would prefer that he offset it by lowering our income taxes. I'm beginning to believe that taxing our productivity and on what we earn isn't right anyway, and if we're going to raise taxes it should be on things we freely purchase of our free will.
ReplyDeleteThe Liberal Party is not known for its honesty, so it matters not what he says in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI tend to agree with Top Can that it would be better to replace income tax with a consumer tax, since the existing system penalises productivity. I am not holding my breath however no matter what party is in charge.
