NDP-Bloc Threaten To Pull Security Funding

Future Coalition partners the NDP and the Bloc Quebecois are now threatening to withhold funding for G20/G8 security unless the government caves to their demands on publishing sensitive military documents. I sincerely doubt that the Liberal Party will be dumb enough to jump on board with their allies and block crucial security funding. A significant amount of that funding will be paid to RCMP officers who will be risking their lives to protect foreign dignitaries. Should these extra officers just stay home, while we roll the dice with the well being of the world's leaders? What if something bad happens?

One week of Canadian parliament left to go before we adjourn for the summer. Somehow I suspect there will be a few highlights and lowlights yet to come before this session's time is done. This is not the issue to be playing political games with. When it comes to guaranteeing the safety of our guests, I’d rather spend too much than not enough.

  1. No summer vacation for any MP's until these provisions are passed.

  2. What a crock, are they not bond to secrecy over the contents of the documents.
The NDP and Bloc should be charged with sedition and treason along with contempt of parliament.

  3. The safety and securiry of canadians, military and Canada are not a matter of concern for the opposition coalition parties. " They proved it when none of them(coalition) stood to vote for the 'Anti- terrorist act bill."

The 'FAKE' media is the worse, because through them, and by them is the reason why the opposition BS continues.

  4. Am I hearing this right, NDP/Liberals want to take overtime pay from the RCMP? First the RCMP then what; the Public Servants? Just for political points...

  5. I second Sam's comment.

"The NDP and Bloc should be charged with sedition and treason along with contempt of parliament."

The Liberals (if they had any) would do so along with the Conservatives bring such a motion (or whatever) forth against the NDP/Bloc MP's.

  6. I'd almost like to see them have to explain to Cameron, Sarkozy, Merkel, Putin and company why security at the summit is so lax.

  8. Where are all the conservatives that were once concerned by excessive gov't spending? Is it possible the nearly one billion for security is over the top? Or am I unduly concerned about this kind of spending? Couldn't they have brought the Canadian Forces in and held the summit outside a major city?

  9. If the documents are ever released who will be the first opposition member to leak them to the media.
