92% of Canadians Did Not Vote NDP

I recently heard the President of the Liberal Party Alf Apps make the statement that 80% of Canadians did not vote for the Conservative Party, having received 38% support from the 60% of eligible voters who showed up to vote. If 80% of Canadians did not vote Tory, how could they possibly earn a mandate to govern? Surely this justifies a coalition with the NDP, but I would remind Mr. Apps that by his line of reasoning, 85% of Canadians did not vote Liberal and 90% of Canadians did not vote NDP. How can you justify putting the NDP in power when 90% of Canadians did not vote for them.

Wait a minute; Mr. Apps math is not counting the people who were too young to vote! The people too young to vote didn't vote Conservative. 13.8 out of 30 million Canadians voted, meaning only 45% of the country voted. That means that 92% of Canadians did not vote NDP, and 88% did not vote Liberal. How can you put these people in power when so many people did not vote for them? That's the question I put to you Mr. Apps.

  1. 12% Canadians voted Liberal; how many of these Canadians voted Liberal due to tradition and have never realized that their political views are Conservative? Teneycke may open some eyes, people may begin to understand their political personalities and which party reflects their views.

  2. C'mon Icemen, most Liberals can barely read, now you expect them to do arithmetic.

I voted not to have MPs sit all summer for two reasons:
    1. They do enough damage in the short time they are working.
    2. It gives me a break from watching their childish antics.

  3. Apps will be stepping down as president this week leaving the party broke and the leader broken.

  4. Fun with numbers. I had similar thoughts on coalition math back in 2008.

  5. Why would Dippers want to attach themselves to the Titanic?
The Liberals could sink them both.

Layton's judgement and motivation are in question here.

Titanic/power grab = not in the interest of Canadians.

  7. Liberal are wonderful with numbers. The auditor general was impressed with every rule being broken in Advertising contracts regarding Quebec.

Their unpaid leadership debts from 2006 and reduced to radio and internet spots.

The CPC must be terrified with the financial juggernaut of Liberals.
