Liberals Cheering Helena

I'm sure Helena Guergis remembers some of the outlandish statements that the Liberal members opposite have been firing in her direction since airport-gate. So when she asked her "big question" in Question Period today to a thunderous Liberal applause, I wonder how she felt? I'm sure that any human being enjoys being applauded, and that it came from the likes of Wayne Easter probably didn't feel as awkward as you'd expect, even if it should have. These people are not your friends Helena.

I respect her right to demand the public release of the Prime Minister's letter to the Ethics Commissioner, but I also assume that there were more factors in her dismissal than just the Snowdy allegations. The PM doesn't have to disclose why a Minister was released, but the fact that she was married to a former MP who was using her office e-mail to lobby government seems like an adequate reason to dismiss the Minister. Sadly the actions of her husband, which she was oblivious to and did nothing to prevent, may have cost her caucus seat. The same people who a month ago were accusing her of drug trafficking are now applauding her and raising her profile for their own gain. I am waiting for the Liberals to come scoop her up like Garth Turner. We all know how that worked out for Garth.

What are the rules on who gets to ask how many questions in Question Period? Do the Liberals have to cede floor time to allow her to ask a question? I'm assuming this will not be the last question she ever asks in our House of Commons...

  1. What I find disgusting is that the Liberals demanded she be fired, and then after she was dismissed from Conservative caucus, start demanding answers as to why she was fired. Opportunism as its finest.

  2. The behaviour of the Liberals on this particular issue provides the MEAT and POTATOES clarity for both everyday Canadians and the MSM about what the conscience and morals of these people really is; absolutely nothing.

It defies any common reality that they can look at themselves and call themselves anything other that despicable sleazebags.

But they won't, they never do and they carry on as though this was all perfectly acceptable.

Helena had better stay clear of trusting one moment of that artificial, arrogant applause, sickening!

  3. They were demanding that she be fired after the incident at the PEI airport...and they kept demanding it all the way up to the time she actually was fired. Then they immediately began accusing the Prime Minister of being too quick to fire her.

    (hey...they're Liberals, aren't they?...)

  5. Helena stated yesterday that she wants to return to the Conservative party or she will run as an independent. Unfortunately if she does run as an independent it make split the Conservative vote here in Simcoe-Grey giving the very safe seat to the Liberals.

  6. Independent MPs get to ask questions occasionally. I'm not sure of the frequency, but the opposition parties don't have to give up a question to them.

What was really funny was the reaction of the NDP guy on P + P yesterday. He was outraged that an MP would ask a question that related to her personal situation in QP, rather than one related to policy and constituency matters.
