Liberal Party: "We don't comment on events as they unfold"

At least Jack Layton was able to make a public statement today condemning the violence at the G20 protests. When Evan Soloman went to his friends at the Liberal Party for a statement, their official spokesperson released their official statement, "we don't comment on events as they unfold". Even Peter Mansbridge had a laugh at the Liberal Party line. These are people who would like to lead our country, so hopefully in future scenarios they would be able to govern events as they unfold. Come on; at least condemn the burning of police cars! Who are they afraid of offending?

And to all those in the media trying to say that the Clowns in Black were they ONLY people to engage in any sort of violence is not accurate. There are plenty of videos with crowds crashing up against police lines, throwing punches, and engaging the officers in conflict; and they weren't all wearing black. There were plenty of plain clothed people raising Hell.

  1. Hey, the best was the chief of police ripping a reporter a new one at a news conference this evening.

Telling the reporter, in an outrageously friendly manner, to get his facts straight before he tangles with the big dog.

    Next question.....

  2. But can we be certain that Jack! didn't have his fingers crossed?

Did anyone check the contents of his trunk?

Was there, or was there not, any black gear located there?

Has he, or has he not claimed ownership?

  3. typical IFFY. They didnt have a problem commenting on the Guergis/Jaffer affair as it unfolded...what a lying piece of work the liberals are.

  4. The Liberal way has always been to govern this country as events unfold. They have rarely had a good idea and usually hijack the ideas proposed by other people.
They were complaining about the amount being spent on security and would rather have seen Toronto burn. Then they would have had armed soldiers on the streets.

  5. btw, did anyone see the Mansbridge/Adam Giambrone interview on CBC where Giambrone tried to pin all the violence and trouble on Harper? He was so outrageous even Peter Mansbridge stopped him and asked him several times if he was (I'm paraphrasing) seriously trying to shift the blame away from the violent protesters. It was one of the rare occasions where Peter actually stopped one of his blatantly left-wing guests and called them out on their outrageous claims.

  6. I find it very funny that some people are trying to put all the blame on PMSH for selecting Toronto as the site for the G20.
He probably thought TO was a grown up city, but guess it is not. The media has been complaining for weeks and almost encouraging violence. They got what they wanted, and now will try to appear blameless. There were no peaceful protesters, or they would have overpowered the thugs, or turned them in.
If the police had charged the thugs the story would be, police attack innocent bystanders.
There will be a lot of second thoughts today, first, all those buses from Quebec should have been turned back and not allowed into Toronto.
Anyone arrested from another country should be deported asap and never allowed back into Canada.

  7. Just heard that parents are arriving at the detention center. Seems those brave protesters are calling mommy and daddy for help. Seems they texted mommy to say they will be arrested. Hope they have to pay a huge fine to get their innocent babies out of jail.
I would imagine that the parents have jobs and are part of the global economy they were protesting about. Also, if they had phones, they have supported consumerism they were demonstrating against.

  8. Why can Vancouver host the Olympics without police cruisers burning in the streets, and Toronto not ....?

Liberals are likely witholding judgement because the university kids are involved, wouldn't want to piss off the only voting group they still hold!

Police raid University of Toronto campus, make 50 more G20 arrests

  9. I wonder how many of those older men arrested at the UofT were professors, who have encouraged their students to protest. If so, they should be fired and the students expelled.
Two universities that show up on any resumes applying for jobs should be thrown in the garbage.

  10. Slightly off topic, but regarding your poll "should burning police cars be considered an act of terrorism".

The connotation "terrorist" gives a certain cachet to an act of simple and simple-minded vandalism, one that probably appeals to the twisted minds of the gutless perpetrators.

Let's not give them the benefit of assuming they're part of a larger movement, another man's "freedom fighter". There's nothing "liberating" about their actions, no starving family in a far off place cheers them on.

Let's call them and charge them as the idiot brutes they are,no politics to use as a defence, just make them answer for a serious crime, and DO THE TIME.

btw, where were all the Great Negotiators who infest Ontario politics while this was happening? Safely at home under their beds?

  11. I do get a lot of hits from the U of T server, though generally they are anonymous satirical statements from students pretending to be Conservatives.
