Which Actor Should Play Ignatieff?

If a major Hollywood film were being made involving Canadian politics, which major actor do you think would be best suited to play current Liberal leader Mike Ignatieff? Would it be Gilbert Gottfried? Perhaps a more Shakespearean actor like Christopher Lee? Of all the world's celebrities, pop star Iggy Pop ironically bears the closest resemblance, though I don't know if that Iggy is still with us. With his lust for life, that star might have burned out early. I have a list of nominees, and I'd like to be sure that I'm not forgetting anyone.

Possibilities

1) Gilbert Gottfried

2) Saruman

3) Christopher Lloyd

4) Mike Richards

5) Nick Nolte

6) Iggy Pop

  1. The main problem is, you need someone who can project an air of false indecisiveness. The late Paul Eddington, for example, would have been perfect, but there's also:

Hugh Laurie (remember him as the prince regent in Blackadder the Third)

    James Cromwell

    Larry David

Steve Carrell (talent includes a willingness to fake knowing what he doesn't know -- see 40-Year-Old Virgin)

David Caruso (reputation for making wrong career decisions)

John Ratzenburger (good as a know-it-all who actually doesn't)

  2. None of the above, their all still living and a corpse is more suited to play Iggy

  3. Andy Kaufman first choice. Jim Carrey second choice.Rowan Atkinson third choice.

Each actor must be able to do the flicking tongue raising eyebrows mannerisms. Being tall, lanky for physical comedy.

Yes A.K. has left the building as has M.I. political career. Liberals should have no problem invoking from the great beyond A.K. with the help of Kings ghost.

  5. I would say Anthony Perkins. Wait, he's dead. Oh well, so is Iggy.

  7. How Ignatieff sees us -

Even two of his MPs laughed at jokes about the image of a bus tour Mr. Ignatieff’s aides plan for him through the summer—visiting “every single” province and territory—as Liberal strategists attempt to reacquaint Mr. Ignatieff with Canada after the 27 years he spent in prestigious academic and media positions abroad. One of the MPs suggested Mr. Ignatieff told his caucus he wanted to speak to and meet “the Canadians” during his summer travels.

THE Canadians. Not fellow Canadians, or Canadians, or the people, or the voters. No, its THE Canadians.

For an actor to portray Ignatieff, I propose -
