Is John Baird #2?

Last night I watched Power Play with Tom Clark for just the second time, and instead of Jane Taber he had Jim Traverse to join he and Fife. As they were talking about the day's events in Committee, Clark basically said that Baird is the #2 man in the Conservative Party and that he is just a heart beat away from becoming Prime Minister. Having now watched a whole 10 minutes of Fife on television in my lifetime, I really have to ask how the Hell does he even have a job on television?

I think I missed that announcement that John Baird was now officially Stephen Harper's number two and is a likely replacement should anything unfortunate happen to our Prime Minister. In fact, that would make a great poll question, who do you think should be Stephen Harper's deputy? Peter MacKay was the last man to hold the title, though after the position was scratched no successor was named. Who is #2?

Not only does Fife work there he is CTV BUREAU CHIEF. How depressing and maybe one of those extra clowns must be FIFE's no# 2 idiot.,

"As they were talking about the day's events in Committee"

Iceman, Since these fools like to talk about the 'daily' events in committees; they seem to bypass the event went Derek Lee refuse to attend the committee to answer questions.

The only times when the medias are hovering around the committees like vultures is when a conservative is being drilled.

FOX has become my media, it is a 'breath of fresh air just to hear them accually talk to you.
The CTV clowns could not possibly come close to FOX MEDIA reporting.

  2. Um, no.

As of January 2010, according to PCO Order-in-Council 2010-0086, Harper's official Number Two is Lawrence Cannon, the Foreign Affairs Minister.

And, not to go all Patrick McGoohan on you, but Mr. Baird . . . he's Number Six.

  3. We the Conservative People shall decide who shall be our leader ... but in the meantime he/she who is Solicitor General shall lead the Party.

  4. #2 is already decided, somewhere... just in case.
I remember reading that Lawrence Cannon held that position.

Old Travers tries and tries to make like there is a leadershsip rivalry in the CPC.
    Not.

  5. Thanks for catching that. I used to watch that show religiously until the leftards took it over. Now its all just BS left leaning bafflegab like the rest.

FYI to CTV: The members of the CPC pick their leader. Not you. Not a focus group. Not some shady elitists. This is not the LPC.

  6. Bob Fife is a senile old moron who cakles with glee anytime a Conservative MP is involved in any hint of a scandal. That's a scandal in a liberals eye's.

  7. Being new to Power Play you have not yet had a chance to learn of the subtleties that Tom Clark engages in when he speaks of the Conservatives.
In particular, watch for his little smirks and the raised eyebrow.
Listen to him quickly dismiss the Conservative response to one of his questions before moving on to the other panelists.
Listen to his parting comment after a Conservative member has ended the interview on a positive note.

I watched him interview Martha Hall Findlay a couple of days ago with respect to the note that Conservative MP Rob Anders had written on a card being sent to the troops in Afghanistan. ("When in doubt pull the trigger" [or something to that effect]) He asked her if this 'had legs' and when she said that it didn't and 'we' should move on he dropped that line of questioning immediately and moved on. I doubt very much a Conservative MP would have been granted the same level of obedience.

As far as number two is concerned, I think John Baird is very close to the PM but I don't think he's the number two man. My vote would be for Maxine Bernier.

  9. Not only does Fife have a job, he has THE job at CTV in regards to the production of the crap that Clark and Taber host.

I cannot stand the guy nor any of his colleagues.

  10. Don't you know there is no number 2 man. Harper runs the government himself (sarcasm intended)

  11. I always thought it was pretty obvious that John Baird was #2.

This article on him being Parliamentarian of the year I think definily proves it.
