This is awesome. Kinsella is not backing down on his claim that talks are underway to merge the Liberal and NDP Party, and has infact just released a sworn affidavit outlining his conversation with Liberal Party President Alfred Apps. Scott Reid was brought on the Soloman Show to address Kinsella's claims, and he says flatly that he doesn't believe it and that there is zero interest anywhere in the Liberal Party hierarchy to merge with the NDP. Kinsella didn't just say it, he just put it to a legal document and he is a lawyer. With his colleagues accusing him of lying on this issue and possibly ruining his credibility among the left wing, Warren is going all in.
He worked in Ignatieff's Office, and over the past few years has played the role of Pavlov for the Liblogs. The Liberals came out this morning and the strategy was to laugh at Kinsella's interview with the CBC. Iggy, Rae, Leblanc, and Jennings all came out to do an interview and laugh out loud in harmony at what Kinsella said. Warren did not appreciate that, and created the affidavit that was introduced on the Soloman Show just a few short hours later. I don't often recommend watching Power and Politics, but you need to watch his interview with Scott Reid in the first 20 minutes. Evan actually conducted himself admirably and would not drop the question that Reid was ducking "are you saying Kinsella is lying" to which Scott would say "that's not for me to say" and then state that he doesn't believe any of it.
This story is getting more interesting by the hour!
UPDATE: An hour after I posted this, Soloman gets another sworn affidavit from another Liberal stating that not only are these merger negotiations taking place, but Joe Clark is involved! I have never seen Evan Soloman this excited.
OH OH, another sworn affidavit re conversations with Apps and the merger
ReplyDeleteThen there was insinuations that Apps was a lawyer for a shady business man.
How long before he is replaced as President of the liberal party. But if they fire him, what secrets will he expose.
Yikes. The proverbial leftard heads are exploding on national television.
ReplyDeleteNice.

Rosemary Barton just raised the possibility that the two affidavits today are in fact part of a larger coup within the Liberal Party to remove Ignatieff. There might be a lot more than just Kinsella, and Bob Rae could very well be behind it. Rosemary did point out moments earlier that Bob Rae is "very frustrated" then she kind of paused and smiled.
ReplyDeleteAre Liberals seriously going to let Rae destroy their party? Wow, this should be fun.
ReplyDeleteKinsella didn't just say it, he just put it to a legal document and he is a lawyer.
ReplyDeleteAnd now that Reid has accused WK of lying, what do you suppose WK's next move should be? If he behaved true to form that is. :D
.... he'll threaten to sue Scott Reid unless he withdraws his comments.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Soloman, he got Kinsella's affidavit at 5pm ET at the start of his show. Scott Reid was already sitting in a CBC studio with a microphone preparing to be Soloman's guest to quash the merger idea. Kinsella ambushed Reid with the affidavit, and I don't think Scotty had time to think about what he was going to say to Soloman's pointed questions about "are you saying he's lying".
ReplyDeleteNow Milewski is saying that people in the parties are talking, but nobody has been authorized by the leader's office to do anything. That's the distinction. It looks as though Kinsella was being honest and Reid was saying whatever he thought he needed to in order to put out an internal fire, which may be a Bob Rae coup in disguise (according to Rosemary Barton).
This is better than hockey night in Canada! The liberals are killing each other! Kinsella is gnawing off his own limbs because the liberal elite dropped kicked him by using him as the canary. It doesn't get any better than this. We have months and months of watching the liberals implode before our very eyes!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone though to ask Jack Lenin? Is that expecting to much from the dumb-ass reporters?
ReplyDeleteAnd what about the NDP members? Are they going to be okay with all this backroom conniving?
Could they be as half witted as the Liberal Party members and allow the anointment of a new leader who would undoubtedly have to be acceptable to the corporate interest that own the Liberal Party?
I can't stop laughing. That part in the deal about the liberals demanding the pinko Ndp denounce pinkonism. That is like asking your dog to watch the steaks on the picnic table while you go into the house to fetch a beer.
ReplyDeleteI knew they were going to go off, but never imagined it would be like the 4th of July.
gives me yet another reason to dislike joe clark at the same time i laugh my ass off at the buffoonery taking place.
ReplyDeletetell me again why we dont have a majority. four years of this would make a great reality show.

With a nod to the soccer and hockey world - this is an "own goal". Stanley Cup Hockey comes to an end and World Cup Soccer begins. The Liberals are in fine company - let the games begin. I look forward to weeks of viscous, dirty play and plenty of swan dives. What penalties will be called by the Candadian public referee? Front row seats are free - you supply the beer and popcorn. Priceless. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteIt took me a while to go back and find an article I read by Jim Travers on June 05 2010. Here's a very telling quote: "Alf Apps, one of the supplicants who lured Ignatieff back from Harvard, is expected to step down soon from the presidency of a party failing to fill its campaign coffers." Kinsella sure is stirring a very deep, rapidly boiling pot and obviously knows more than anybody in Iggy's little cabal suspects. The connections are interesting to say the least and the rifts in the party are widening by the minute. The question is who is the mastermind?

The BBQ Circuit will not be pleased ... Iggy better not charge for pancakes.
