Fake Lake "is actually kinda nice"

Now that the international media have begun to arrive at their pavilion, the "fake lake" is quickly becoming a popular gathering area for visitors. The CBC's Margo Mcdiarmit was just on TV talking about it and she said that people have heard of the controversy but when they visit the reflection pool, the common response is that it is actually really nice. Everyone is really enjoying it as it becomes a popular tourist destination within the media center. Glad to hear that it was a good idea and nicely done. Iggy might have jumped the gun when he called it "Lake Wastamytaxes" in Question Period. Maybe we should call it Lake Effectiveuseofmytaxes?

Just a thought.

  1. Contrast this quiet setting with relaxing chairs, free drinks with covering the protests outside on the streets in the sun by idiots.

Only two hundred Press will be allowed up north to cover the G8.

It's a no brainer, the winners are those going from Toronto Hotel to Canada Pavillion.

The French staying at the Novotel will have the noisy activists and hotel picket lines to cross on frequent basis.

  6. Our press are idiots. Two weeks ago they were assuring us that the government was building a 2 million dollar lake in downtown Toronto, just throwing-distance away from the real Lake Ontario. This lake, they said, could never be justified.

Yesterday, I saw some pictures of the finished product. A raised platform to look like a deck with some Adirondack chairs on it. Along the edge a small reflective pool with an inch of water in it which ties in with a big tv screen. This thing is about as big a deal as a display at a Hudson Bay store. Why do I even listen to our press?

  7. LOL... another FLOP for Iffy and the Gang... they try to make a fuss about the "lake", draw all kinds of media attention to it, which means the press OF COURSE are going to go check it out now, and they're reporting that it's actually "kinda nice"? Way to go Iffy! Thanks for the free press!

  8. WHat a waste of money. You partisan tools would be complaining about it if this was a Liberal adminsitration's idea.

  9. Anonymous, even Andrew Coyne said it was a hit. That story was lost in the protests.
