I would like to thank the History Channel for running their Fact and Film tonight on the Blackhawk Down episode in Mogadishu. I watched the commentary of this failure of leadership and asked myself, doesn't any of this stick to Bill Clinton? He was the Commander and Chief during this debacle. They conducted a mission with insufficient troops, then abandoned Somalia after it was lost. A lot of good that did for Somalia. Aside from the inspiration that the failure sparked in Osama Bin Laden, the abrupt withdrawal of American military force condemned the Somalians to decades of Anarchy and suffering. It was one of Slick Willy's darkest hours.
