Liberal MP Ruby Dhalla has been thrown under the bus by her fearless leader; stripped of her critic's role, banished to a back corner of the House of Commons, and abandoned on her extra benefits for recently landed immigrant seniors. One has to wonder if Ruby is considering joining the Conservative Party to spite Ignatieff. Granted the Tories are not going to endorse her private members bill ever, but I'm sure would accept her into the party if she wanted to cross. Would you? That is the subject of today's poll question.
Credit Don Martin with writing a great piece in the Post, something I don't often say these days. Donny to me is like Old Yeller. Once upon a time I enjoyed his work, but over the past two years I find myself disagreeing with him more and more. I suppose there are some writers who can only really do what they when complaining about the government, whether it be liberal or conservative. Coyne is comparable.
The list is getting long for Liberal MP's who don't follow the collective dictates of it's leader.
ReplyDeleteI did a post on the control freak using Don and highlight the numerous flip flops of second readings he has jettisoned Liberal MPs.
It might be a palace revolt to his tyrannical edicts to control every message from his party.
It has been fun watching Mad Max go around Canada calling for more fiscal conservatism, respect for division of powers being pounced on by the opposition for his views as a back bencher.
Don't forget too that Ruby, by invitation from PMSH, represented Canadian athletes and business at the Commonwealth games in Delhi.
ReplyDeleteThe Libluvin media did not cover the story. CBC did not have a close up shot of our athletes on stage, when Ruby was with them. Mansbridge never spoke her name.
The prediction that Ruby may cross to the Cons is..."hogwash."
ReplyDeleteShe has nothing to offer and is on her way out!
Simply wonderful.
Uhh... it astounds me to know that you would abandon all principle to accept an MP as opportunistic and lousy as Ruby Dhalla into the Conservative caucus. Besides her ridiculous PMB which was attempt to save her seat, this was the same woman who was accused of mistreating her mother's Filipino nannies. Of course we cannot accept her. It would be shameful for the Conservative caucus.
ReplyDeleteShe is the same M.P. who spank the young kid in india when she was in india. Thank you Mr Ignatieff you did the right thing
ReplyDeletethis bitch is on her way out. Parm Gill will prevail next time.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I think that the people of Brampton are too smart to vote for a party that doesn't care about them. In the next election Parm will get his third strike and the people of Brampton will show that they prefer to have someone who actually works in their interest
ReplyDeletePlease get your info correctly, the Liberal leadership did NOT strip Ruby of her status, Ruby voluntarily step down from the position as any respectable politician would when faced with the Conservative smear campaign.
ReplyDeleteWhy would Ruby want to join the conservatives when they've been working so hard to smear her good name?
when a women is accused of mistreating someone but nothing is ever proven, we assume she is guilty and try to ostracize her.
when rob ford is charged with beating his wife, charged with drug possession, and drunk at a leafs game? We elect him as mayor.
I guess equal rights have come a long way.
Well most recent anonymous, would you say that the Liberal attacks on Helena Guergis were fair after airport-gate? Mark Holland accused her of "assaulting airport security" where the video showed nothing of the kind.
ReplyDeleteHelena was not removed from the Tory caucus until allegations that she was possibly involved in illegal lobbying (if not her husband allegedly was). The Guergis family was swept out of recent municipal elections in the Simcoe-Grey area, suggesting that it was the right thing to do to pull the Tory Guergis from running for the federal party in that riding.
