Perhaps it wasn't such a bright idea for NDP stalwart Judy Wasaleesaleese to vacate her federal seat in Winnipeg North in a vain attempt to unseat the mayor of Winnipeg. She lost, which is hopefully a preview of the November 29th byelection in her former riding where the NDP won with a massive margin of victory in 2008. Based on the dipper margin of victory in the last federal election in Winnipeg North, the odds of them losing the seat are next to impossible; ergo if they do, it would be catastrophic...I just wouldn't bet money on it.
Hopefully Judy's defeat on Wednesday is a sign of things to come.
Based on recent analysis, if the NDP were to lose that Winnipeg seat, it would most likely go to the Liberals.
ReplyDeleteTop Can, was a Liberal just elected mayor of Winnipeg?
ReplyDeleteI am curious about the Winnipeg North race as well.
ReplyDeleteSam was able to fend off the Union-NDP political machine.
Will it repeat on the Federal level as the election is only four weeks away.
There are parts of Winnipeg that are undyingly orange. I am doubtful that will change in WPG North, but oh so hopeful. I'll even shed my blue-tinged persona and cheer if it goes red. Red would be easier to defeat there in the future. If Winnipeg could get over it's NDP fixation, it would be a landslide for the PCs provincially - they dominate in the rest of the province.
