It is ironic to me that the by-election for the seat of the long serving Democrat Ted Kennedy is being held on the 6th Anniversary of the infamous Howard Dean scream. Republican Scott Brown is leading his Liberal opponent 53% - 46% with 65% of precincts reporting. It is still too early to call, but I would put the probability of victory at least 85% as of 9:10pm Eastern. Granted after Coleman V Smalley, no victory is ever safe.
I saw one CNN field reporter earlier proclaiming that Massachusetts voters were frustrated with the "pace of change" and not the substance of the change. That they are going to vote against an agenda they support to speed it through; speeding up legislation by giving the opposition a filibuster? Speed it up by slowing it down, that's the message that one CNN reporter was trying to sell today. I do hit the mute button when Paul Beggalla starts speaking. If I go the rest of my life without listening to another word that Paul has to say, it will be a good life.
Is Scott Brown going to Washington DC to take back the Senate? If not the Senate, at least the filibuster. Scott "Filibuster Douglas" Brown? No matter how many times I watch this clip, it never ceases to amuse me! www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDwODbl3muE as it turned out, Howard Dean was unable to take back the Whitehouse in 2004...Thank God!
Nice, I declared Brown's victory 10 minutes before Wolf Blitzer.
ReplyDeleteThe last time there was a Republican Senator from Massachusetts, I hadn't been born yet. For the first time in my lifetime, Scott Brown, a Republican Senator is going to Washington DC.
ReplyDeleteWolf declared victory at 9:25pm ET.
I do have to tip my hat to CNN Political Analyst Gloria Borger. Of all the opinions I'm watching on a network that I generally don't watch, Gloria is definitely doing the best job of telling the story the way it is.
ReplyDeleteHaha good news today huh. I'm not surprised about beating CNN. I've seen many a story here before it was anywhere else. The story of the hockystick graph was how many years old before climategate came along? Good work bud.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame, because I actually admire Howard Dean a little. But the guy's been like a bane to the Democrats in a lot of ways.
ReplyDeleteThat scream just marked this as a perrenial black day in their history.
Borger has been as bad as Candy Crowley and others who've been highly influenced by Obama and his team. *Finally,* Borger saw the writing on the wall. 'Bout time!
ReplyDeleteThe Democrat candidate took the Senate seat for granted and didn't campaign seriously 'til it was too late. Scott Brown is the kind of candidate to which most Americans can relate. He called it right when he emphasized service to the people rather than entitlement.
Way to go, Scott Brown!
Yo, the people did not vote for Brown, they voted for Change! This was a resounding victory for Obamacare.
ReplyDeleteThink what you will, Marx-A. To thine own self be true, whether you're joshing or just deluded.:)
ReplyDeleteI can't say that Borger is always right, because I only watch CNN on special ocaisions. All I am saying is that her analysis of what happened tonight in Mass sounds exactly accurate.
ReplyDeletePaul Beggalla looks like someone killed his dog.
If only he would have given a classy speech and not some drunken sounding selling off of his daughters it would have been a sweet victory.
ReplyDeleteIceman, yes, Borger was spot on, tonight.
