Token Tory on the CBC

Just as a warning to some of my BT colleagues, if you are invited onto Power and Politics to represent the voice of Conservative Bloggers, that is not necessarily a compliment. I know what message Evan wants to convey, and I don't expect he'd ever want the most agile right wing minds to represent the Blogging Tories in a televised debate. One of my goals in life is to get Evan fired. When I tuned in to CBC Sunday night on the eve of the anniversary of 9/11 and watched Evan's 9/11 Truther Tribute bit, he created an enemy in me. That was the moment when I decided that Evan had to go. Go work for the Toronto Star, don't collect a government paycheck that my tax money funds.

I want the CBC to be chopped up into little pieces and put up for auction, I don't want to laud it as a platform for my opinion. Tory bloggers, I welcome your presence on the CBC, but be weary which TV shows you are invited onto. Being selected as the Token Tory on Soloman ain't a good thing, considering his "blogging expert" is a flamboyant Liberal who thinks it is awesome that people talk about our troops violating the Geneva Conventions.

I don't want to name names, but you know who you are...

  4. Iceman, sometimes your youthful antics annoy me (yeah I am real old) but on this one you are bang on. Tokens is tokens (yes I know the grammatical difference so take it as intended)

  5. Maybe you should sit around the campfire with jeff jendras or scott tribe and learn the legend of the cherniak...trust me it's a fierce elfish tale.

  6. "Scott Tribe" banned me from his site, so no.

  7. Now why did you have to bring up elfin ears, although he was always good for a laugh. Never could believe someone could be that stupid.

  8. The "token" conservative that was on the show did fine until he started attacking the so-called mainstream media for not doing their jobs. Even and Kady were not going to let that one fly by and rightly so. Kady did explain her role as a journalist and that the television news only has so many minutes during a news-cycle to air a certain number of stories.

Television is a visual medium. It does not care about the so-called "Climategate" documents; it cares about people's reactions to them. It helps if important people have thoughts about those documents.

The conservative blogger should have mentioned that he and his blogging friends have had discussions on Climategate. They have talked to politicians about it. He is glad that the mainstream media is picking up the story. Stop.

  9. Meet Jason Cherniak -- creator of the Liblogs aggregator, unrepentant Liberal, and (for most of 2008) continuous shill for Stephane Dion.

Since Oct 2008, he's turned his blog into a "members-only" read, but back in the day he was really into defending the indefensible -- and was continually puzzled as to why so few people supported his reasoning.

Hence, Cherniak is a byword for unthinking, uncritical hyperpartisanship.

  10. Adrian did a great job. He interrupted their 'talking tapes' and put them on the defensive.

That I call a good thing and not something all Conservative bloggers would or could do.

    Cheers. SOR

  11. Iceman - "I want the CBC to be chopped up into little pieces and put up for auction"

I will buy a piece and then proceed to chop it up in several more.

  12. I would pay to see you on Power and Politics. Any one of you cretinous mouth-breathers, in fact. The World really needs to see that.

  13. There is no need for the CBC to exist. Period.

Enough of coddling bleeding heart Canadians, with our tax dollars! Let them go private and sink or swim.

As for many of the characters you describe (Evan Soloman, Heather Mallick, etc.) I'm not familiar with them, because I don't watch nor listen to the CBC.

  14. "Television is a visual medium. It does not care about the so-called "Climategate" documents; it cares about people's reactions to them. It helps if important people have thoughts about those documents."

Important people,Tim Ball? Lord Monkton? Al Gore? Michael Moore?

What defines a person as "important"?

And why did every Canadian network feature the tale of Tiger Woods infidelities over much more important stories?

CBC should be privatized. There is no need to continue to subsidize them to the tune of a billion or more every year. There are much better uses for that money.

How about putting the CBC billion toward that Liberal/NDP essential, the National Daycare Program?

    Think of THE CHILDREN!

  15. Again, how am I being Cherniak? That has still not been explained to me.

  16. Now that yer up to speed on the Cherniak I'll attempt to answer your question.

IMHO you lack the experience and the chops to dictate who if anybody is suitable to speak for conservative bloggers.

As a conservative blogger I leave it to individuals to speak for themselves. If Adrian wants to accept an opportunity to speak on a panel on Al Jezera it's really none of my business.

BTW I bet you didn't know Kate McMillan wrote a series of pieces for the CBC website a few elections back and did a fine job defining her point of view.

The elfin one (cherniak) was so hyper-partisan that he often clashed with other lib bloggers when he thought they weren't being liberal enough. Jason took this to the extreme and looked foolish doing so.

You appear to have a lot of ambition but you sure as hell don't speak for me.

Of course I may be more libertarian then conservative but that's my point. We can all speak for ourselves.

You seem well meaning enough and like I said you are clearly ambitious....be careful you don't pull a cherniak...not good.

  17. Where do I write that I believe myself to be the representative of all Conservative bloggers? Dude I am more of a Libertarian than a pure conservative, and I have had fellow blogging tories demand my expulsion from the blogroll for having the opinion that Sarah Palin is not qualified to be President. I don't embrace the far right, in fact on a number of issues I break to the left. Pro choice, pro prositution, pro decriminalize marijuana, etc, etc.

How is it that I am so blinded by far right ideology when I agree with the left-of-center on a number of issues? You analogy is flawed. I see a blogger bragging about bringing balance to the CBC by being selected as the token tory on the Soloman Show, and I wrote my opinion. That doesn't qualify me as a far right extremist.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Why don't you elaborate on the "ambition" that you so frequently mention. If you are going to accuse my opinion of being blinded by ambition, why don't you tell me how ambitious I am. Evidently you are the expert on the Iceman's psychology.

Is it wrong to pursue a career as a writer? Am I not allowed to pursue my chosen profession? Please, again, enlighten me.

  19. Mr Syncro, you are a very active Conservative blogger I see. One post since October 4. Over that stretch I have written 300 posts and 200,000 page views defending the Conservative party on a number of issues. Maybe I "lack the experience and the chops to dictate who if anybody is suitable to speak for conservative bloggers" but I hardly think that you are the resident Master of the Universe...

  20. Anyway Synchro, If you want to insult me, do it on your own blog, not my message board. It is the same thing that I said to Raging Tory and Canadian Cynic. Nice to see that in one of my most recent polls, 95% of respondents say that ambition is necessary. I am not evil to have career goals.

  22. Awgh damn it, what the crap... is that what that poll was about?

Hell, I wouldn't of picked Evil then... damn it... I'll be sure to research a little more beyond that of a dictionary quote before voting next time.

Let it be known to the vast world of the internet that the drop down from 95% to 90% was due to my error. *sigh*
