Logo-gate, some of you people need to calm down

I have recently witnessed varying degrees of outrage by some pundits who normally tend to have a more favourable opinion to the right wing than some of their CBC counterparts. I understand that some of you despised this type of thing when the Liberals did it and now you feel an obligation to at least feign outrage when there is a whiff of the Tories doing something comparable. I was mightily pissed off about the sponsorship scandal because there was a heist from the public Treasury by the Liberal Party to insiders in exchange for little to no work.

This photo-op was just a bad marketing idea by a party that thought it would be heading to election. No harm came to any Canadian because of this action, except to the individual Tories who had their pictures taken with poorly designed government fake cheques. They aren't even real cheques for Christ sakes! They were photo ops! You people with your outrage make no practical sense to me. It is a non issue, no harm no foul. There are far more important things to be discussing. I am upset that the pundits I go to for opinion are even wasting their time sharing an opinion on issue that elicits no reaction from me other than "that was a dumb PR idea, next".

There are several critical hotspots around the world that better deserve our attention. The offensive in Waziristan, disaster relief in the South Pacific, North Korea, Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, Myanmar, Sudan, the possibility of a catastrophic collapse of the American dollar, a shifting global economic landscape, Zimbabwe, Georgia, Tibet, Taiwan, Venezuela, and so on and so forth. It bothers me that we are even talking about this!

Shut up! There are more important things to talk about. Bad marketing idea with a photo-op. No harm, no foul.

  1. Adler has mostly avoided this topic. I think he's been talking about blind dates or something the last two shows.

  2. Has anyone even had the slightest thought that they put the logo on the cheques KNOWING how the lieberals would whine about it and the media would run with it for days on end?

What better way to prove to all the entitlement lefties that the money is going out the door, just like they asked.

I say it was another chess move and the liberals dove right on cue.

  3. Well it certainly got the pundits comparing chq-gate to Adscam again.

And then Jack came out with some proposed changes yesterday...in Dipper held ridings, only Dippers should present cardboard cheques, no Con MPs (the governing party of Canada).
Yup, Jack feels Dippers should get the credit for pork in their ridings,
which is exactly the same as the 'CPC pretending it's party money, not Govt of Canada money...heh, it's a photo-op

  4. Excellent Post.

My radar did not go up, silly non stories are put out every other day.

A real scandal or crisis is the E-health. Taxpayers money was wasted. A silly PR stunt with oversized cheques only makes sense in the eyes of partisans and people that are too close to the bubble in Ottawa.

Most people turn the channel when politics is discussed.

Voters are too busy, uninterested, too smart to be confused with another MSM, faux scandal regarding photoshop challenged MP's who broke a communications policy (FIP) over logos.

I have lost count how many "faux" scandals this year have tried and failed to stick.
