What a night! Iggy popped, and was not able to retain his own seat. Goodbye Michael Ignatieff, Mark Holland, Gerard Kennedy, Ken Dryden, Shiobhan Coady, Ujjal Dosangh, Gilles Duceppe, Ruby Dhalla, Helena Guergis, Marc Garneau, Joe Volpe, Anita Neville, and many more as the Tories have captured a large majority government. The Liberals and Bloc Quebecois have been decimated and if you are a right winger this has been a night to celebrate with your beer and popcorn! I never imagined that the Liberals would fall to 34 seats and the Bloc to 4. How does absorbing the Bloc change the NDP? They now have a lot of Quebec MPs, so there will be a shift in their priorities.
This has been a historic night indeed!
Bob Rae remains in parliament with Stephane Dion and Justin Trudeau.
Here is my anthem for Monday night...
As for your poll, Trudeau was the worst leader the Liberal party ever had. I wish he were alive tonight to see his great party at 34 seats. This is indeed a night to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteEliminating the National Socialist BQ is probably the greatest result from this election. Canada's political evolution will now be able to proceed after being frozen in amber since the 1990s; the shift in demographics and economic power to the West has not been reflected by the political establishment.
ReplyDeleteSolomon is on CBC right now whining about vote splits. He showed one riding where the CPC candidate was a couple hundred votes less than the NDP, Libs and Green combined and said "See, the votes cancel out the and Conservatives come up the middle" pathetic.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Anon above... nobody could be worse then Turdo! I'm overjoyed to see the list above, Holland the maggot, Kennedy, the guy never shuts the hell up, Dosanjh, Coady, Iggo, ha, ha ,ha... I love it!
ReplyDeleteIffy's loss to Dion foretold what has happened tonight. His "appointment" as leader solidified it.
ReplyDeleteWhat were they thinking? Or perhaps the better question would be "what were they smoking"
Wait until Quebec finds out Jack! can't keep all of his lofty promises.
ReplyDeleteI think that I might have sprained my ACL while jumping up and down tonight....
ReplyDeleteI've got a lust for life!
I would trade Holland, Dosangh, Ignatieff, Duceppe, Volpe, Kennedy, Coady, Dhalla, Neville, Dryden for Elizabeth May 7 days a week and twice on Sunday. The list of Liberal defeats is mightily impressive!
ReplyDeleteGerard kennedy is gone is wonderful. I am not an NDP supporter but Peggy Nash of the NDP is an honourable replacement. At least she is not the opportunist that we saw in Kennedy who was a true socialist and an example of the real reason the libs lost.
ReplyDeleteTangoJuliette sez:
ReplyDelete"Coveted" Majority? More like a "Just, true and appropriate" majority, befitting the party!
Now - - a bit of light, with fog in the morning.

As for Rae, Dion & Trudeau? The remnants of the Coalition of the fast-fading librano pretenders.
The msm's on-air newscasts are nothing more than schmaltsy intro's to these three laddies - the ilbrano "T'ree Peelers Dream Team." And wow! boyoboyoboyo ! Gotta luv Ig's red sneakers. all he now needs now, to complete this outfit is Ronn Mac's big red, porous nose.

It doesn't get better than this.
ReplyDeleteLPC and Bloc turfed, stable national Harper majority.....
Quebec swallowed the NDP whole, there was no orange crush.
Dippers were only up a half dozen seats in the ROC.
What a bunch of dejected journos on CTV and CBC eh!
Thanks Iceman. It's after midnight, I have to work tomorrow, and now I'm all pumped up from hearing jump around 5 times.
ReplyDeleteIt was a fantastic night. No more disfunctional committees; no more scandal a week; no more stupid legislation like bilingual-only judges! Layton will be busy training pylons. And no more BLOC snivelling. and goodbye IGGY.
ReplyDeleteAnother myth deflated, no majority without Quebec.
ReplyDeleteIggy POOPED and it can no longer be hidden 8-)

'Another myth deflated, no majority without Quebec.'
ReplyDeleteThat's got to be historic.
Totally blown away how Quebecers bet all their chips on a coalition of losers.
167 seats!
ReplyDeleteTake that!~Arcade Fire!
Take it!
