All is right in the world. After starting the season 5-0-1, the Toronto Maple Leafs have since lost 6 games in a row. Cancel the Apocalypse, as all is right in the Universe. The fast start was evidence that the 2012 Mayan calendar end of the world theory was going to happen, but eventually over time wrongs were righted. Clarke MacArthur is not going to win the Rocket Richard trophy, and now I doubt that he will even score 20.
One of my golf buddies is a huge Leafs fan. After 4 wins in a row he texted me "how about them Leafs?" I talked to him 2 weeks later when the Leafs lost 6 straight, and he refused to even call the Leafs a playoff team. It is what it is.
The Leafs' will never improve as long as their box office sells out.
ReplyDeleteAnd that will remain a fact (win or lose) until another francise is allowed to open between Windsor and Toronto, somewhere like Cambridge, by an owner of some cellular/hand sized computing device that handles email and the like.
Once those outside of Toronto have somewhere else to go, thats when they become competitive.
It is after all a business.
As long as the box office sells out, they don't even have to be contenders.
Blame Bettman.
I was under the impression they have a great farm system and good golf scores.
ReplyDeleteIn a few years their talent simply moves to help real NHL team that want to win the Lord Stanley Cup.
The shareholders are business people first. They not fans and the cost of a winning team is not a worthwhile investment or necessary investment.
How original..a leafs bashing post.
ReplyDelete..and you wonder why their fans gloat when they win.
