"Devastated" Harper Canada's #1 Choice For Prime Minister

I seem to recall a few weeks ago that Taber and Travers were proclaiming our denial of a UN Security Council as "devastating" for the government, representing a repudiation of all Harper foreign policy. Even yesterday Iggy was "slicing and dicing Harper foreign policy" (so said the news ticker on CTV news channel). Why then is the Prime Minister rising in the polls for who is the best party leader to lead our country with 43%? "The poll finds that even many Liberal supporters aren’t confident in Ignatieff’s leadership. Just 55% of those who said they would vote Liberal if an election occurred now say Ignatieff would make the best prime minister."

If what the talking heads have been saying was true, both Tory and Harper numbers should be falling. Is it really devastating if Canadians don't care?

  1. 'Nearly one-half (45%) of Canadians believe Harper is the best candidate to manage during tough economic times, well ahead of Ignatieff (24%), Layton (24%)'

Heh, the LibDip coalition represent 48% of Canadians..... LOL

The CPC will obviously keep their attack ads focused on leadership, and hopefully the party will ascend to PMSHs numbers.
That's likely why Ministers are getting alot of air time, as compared to PMSH, focus more on the team to bring party numbers up.

  2. They were speaking on behalf of the latte sipping bike lane advocates in Toronto. The bubble in Ottawa or the PPG is evident with Rob Ford/Omar coverage. They are out of touch with the regular Canadian.

Jane did raise a few questions about the failed Liberal Express Tour. They are down 1700 donor and $ 600k vs 2009. (Third Quarter)

They will be lucky to match Dion's 2008 number.

  3. Ask the media this question
If left to you to decide right now, which government will they choose to Canada.
    (1)Obama (2) liberal and coalition (3)conservative.

My choice they will pick is: no 2 then no 1.

BTW, Glenn Beck beaming and smiling said that
7million tuned in to FOX to CNN-2million last night.

  4. What about Iggy's near silence about the Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo and his wife Liu Xia? Some international presence. I guess Chretien is holding him back.

  5. Our mediocre msm has little understanding of how dangerous it is to a political party when their leader polls below the Party. Our strategists understand this very well, and so are now using the right kind of rhetoric, to take advantage of Iggy the anchor.

First, we have been talking about the "Ignatieff, NDP, Bloc coaltion". Only Alan Gregg, a few weeks ago on the At Issue panel, picked up on that fine point. No mention of the LPC. It's Iggy who is the focal point of the coaltion.

Second, our new campaign slogan "Here for Canada" is a subtle dig at Iggy. I.E. Guess who ISN'T here for Canada, but only "in it for himself.". Maybe a reporter will ask Iggy: "Why did your return to Canada, after being away 34 years ? Did you come here for Canada, or for yourself ?"

The bottom line: The Harper led Big Blue Machine understands and plays the political gave very well. The mediocre msm can't even analyze our politics, beyond just repeating lame Liberal talking points.

  6. 'Anonymous sources' leaked to Don Martin, Mr Gossip, info that the potash sale was a go ...
so has the PMO finally figured out who the leaker is and planted a false story? (bureaucrat?)
Clement thanked the Sask CPC MPs for remaining discrete.

Or did the PMO want Iffy and Jack to make fools of themselves as they predictablly go all stupid 'before' the Clement decision? (planted story with Stephen Taylor too)

  7. A bit more from the poll today

'The Conservatives were also favoured ahead of all the other parties to find the right balance between taxation and providing government services, the poll found. The Conservatives led the pack with 35%, followed by the Liberals at 28%, the NDPat 23%

The Conservatives were the first choice of 31% of Canadians who were asked which party would best ensure the sustainability of the health-care system. Twenty-eight per cent said the NDP, while 25% said the Liberal party.

Mr. Wright said the Liberals have some work to do if they are going to pitch themselves as the party to trust on health-care in the next election.'

“If you’re going to tie your can to that, you better make sure that you’re stronger than where you are right now,” he said.
