Follow The Liberal Express

I decided to visit the Liberal Party Website to see if the Liberal Express would be making a stop at a Tim Horton's near me in BC. Sadly it does not appear that Pandora's Bus will be leaving Quebec and Ontario (other than a lone trip to Saskatoon today). The Liberal list of summer events does include British Columbia, but those events conflict with a softball tournament in Laval, or "lunch with Ignatieff" in Stratford. I'm guessing that he won't be attending "The Big Red Bike Ride" in BC, as he scheduled conflicting breakfast and lunch events in Ontario.

There has been some false advertising. A cross country tour? The bus is making 95% of its stops in only two Provinces! That leaves a lot of Tim Horton's unvisited. I suppose from a pragmatic point of view this makes sense. Iggy has little chance of electoral success west of Ontario, so why make the effort? Atlantic Canada will elect Liberals no matter what, so they are easy to take for granted. Also there are only 3 events scheduled for August and September (none of which include the "Liberal Express"), so when they said a "Summer Tour", what they really meant was two weeks in July.

They wanted to give the impression that they would spend the entire summer visiting the entire country. When Mike said that he'd visit every Tim Hortons even if it killed him, what he meant to say was that he'd visit a half dozen Tim Hortons in Ontario over a two week period. This is not the Summer Across Canada Tour; this is the "Two Weeks in Ontario and Quebec Tour", with one lonely stop in Saskatoon. This should not come as a surprise to anyone, as we should have known that they couldn't afford what they were advertising.

  1. When have Liberals ever made promises they've kept?

  2. FYI, a draft of the full 6-week itinerary was leaked to BC's Public Eye Online, and indeed there were to be planned stops in the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, Kamloops, Kelowna and Vernon I think it was.

Whereabouts in BC are you, Iceman?

  3. I'm going by the Liberal Party Website, and while there may be events in BC, they conflict with bus events in Ontario.

  4. ''They wanted to give the impression that they would spend the entire summer visiting the entire country.''

Iffy's Canada ends at the Ontario/Manitoba border, like every Liberal before him.

  5. Not to defend the WaffleBus or anything, but the events calendar only goes up to the end of July. I'm guessing they're still working out the logistics for Liberal Express visits in August.

  6. Does the "Big Red Bike Ride" count as part of Iggy's summer tour if he has scheduled "Lunch with Ignatieff" in Stratford Ontario on the same day? They also don't list any events after next week, so it would appear that the Summer Tour is not 6 weeks long, but rather 2 weeks long.

  7. Update to the Pandora bus tour may change. The Local MPs are trying to scramble and get the crowds out without HST pitchforks.

If you were a Liberal, is BC a safe place atm?

  8. Obviously, Iffy will ditch the bus and fly.
The guy can only be one of us for so long, he has his limits!

  9. I'm still waiting for the video of the bus ride to Nunavut!!

  10. So Phantom the bus tour is going to continue through August, they just haven't announced the events yet? I assumed that it would be logistically sound to make your plans more than two weeks in advance and post them immediately such that more people know about it sooner and can make plans to attend. They want to draw crowds larger than dozens, right?

If they have more events planned beyond next week, they may want to update their website so that their supporters with families can make plans.

  11. Sorry, it looks like 2.6 weeks, not 2 weeks.

I don't want to sell Iggy short. :)

  12. New Liberal slogan;

"THE PHONY EXPRESS - possibly.....maybe.....not likely coming to a town near you!!"

  13. The LazarusFail Tour. A Moveable Wake.
Ig will be doing a lot of flying on this bus tour.

  14. 'MPs are trying to scramble and get the crowds out without HST pitchforks'

Well that would explain Iffy campaigning at a kids summer camp! (good gawd)

  15. I'm with you Iceman,
bets the tour gets derailed somehow.
Maybe Iffy has urgent business in Ottawa, all of a sudden.
But not a vote, he doesn't show up to vote.

  16. A family emergency. That's always a good excuse to avoid doing something unpleasant. I read Iggy accidentally broke Zuzzanna's toe by stepping on it. That's it. Zuzzanna's toe became infected. Iggy said "she's my rock". How can he finish the tour without his rock. Who's going to order his food for him. Gotta get back to Ottawa for emergency treatment. LOL

  17. Ignatieff is going to visit every Tim Hortons? Well there was a picture of his desk on the bus last week, and the coffee cup was from StarBucks. That pretty well sums up Ignatieff, there's no way to explain away that type of insincerity: he's a fake.

  18. Actually, as the dates and venues in BC were finalized, they were posted on both the LPC and LPCBC websites (http://bc.liberal.ca/liberal-express-in-british-columbia-2/). Obviously with a tour this large and complex, events and times can change, and it is the policy of the Liberal Party not to post events till they are confirmed.
