Conservatives "Worst Possible Motives" On Affirmative Action

There is a curious editorial up at the Globe and Mail which suggests that the battle over the census is evidence that the Tories have nefarious motives on affirmative action. The article, which does not list an author, claims "coming so soon after its baffling attack on the mandatory long-form census and politicization of statistical methodology – and the efforts of Conservative politicians to cast that decision along overtly ideological lines – it is understandable that the worst possible motives are being inferred." I would guess that this was written by Taber or Galloway, given that the "worst possible motives" are being inferred on an issue with bipartisan support.

There is a hesitation on the left to directly attack the Conservatives on this employment equity issue, largely because polling suggests that many Liberal supporters are against hiring based on skin colour. They risk alienating people on their own side if they defend the practice, hence why even Pavlov's Liblogs are generally avoiding the discussion. The Liberal website is going so far as to say "Conservatives attack minorities", but the rats aren't following the Pied Piper on this one. So in a vain attempt to change the focus, the unknown writer wrote "it would be a lot easier to take the employment review seriously were the government not persisting in its ridiculous attack on the long-form census."

Look, can we really accuse Tony Clement of being evil? The man jumped into a river to save a drowning woman.

  1. I visited CBC.ca news page, and they aren't reporting on the Tony Clement saves drowning woman story. But there is a story about a Regina bookstore losing business to Amazon.

  2. Yes, they are all baffled why the government would intentionally ask for a beating from the elites and the media!

Because the elites and the media don't run this country, the people's elected government does.

Our top civil servants are still stuck in the 80's, and they think they own the joint!
They work for the taxpayer thru the elected government.
Ex-civil servants had no right attacking Sheikh and the job he was tasked to do.

Maybe a Liberal governments can be beat into submission by these yahoos,
    but not the Harper govt.

Why do we still collect data 'the way it was' in 1986?
We need to push our top civil servants into the 21st century.
And SunTV will take care of the sniveling media.

CROP poll finds 60 per cent of Quebecers in favour of exploiting the shale gas deposits in their province!

    Good bye 'have not' Quebec,
I guarantee you good Quebecers, you won't miss her when she's gone.

  4. Now I see why the CBC is not reporting the Clement rescue story, because Don Newman this morning published a scathing op-ed of the hero (which does not mention the heroic event because it was written before that occured). Don calls him a blind partisan, ultra-ambitious, and "seemingly" capable.

  5. The old tired media hacks have not been interested in presenting the news without their agenda for a very long time.

Canadians are tuning out the Liberal worldview as European have. We should not expect these dinosaurs to go quietly.

When the Berlin Wall fall, these Liberals blamed capitalism and whitewashed communism.

With the advancement of a non Liberal media product the left are lashing out in fear.

This happened with Fox and is repeating itself in Canada with SunTV.

  6. CBC.ca finally put the story up as one of the top stories on its Canada page at 4pm eastern time the next day. I had to scrap my "CBC burrying Clement Rescue Story" post.

  7. I certainly hope the Conservatives have a plan to eliminate the affirmative action monstrosity plus a whole bunch of other "progressive" statist legislation.

  9. Don Newman is an asshole.
Does he stand for anything other than Tories bad, Liberals good?
I wish I could call him up and tell him what a fucking cunt he is.
Because he's a fucking cunt of the first magnitude.
    Don Newman Cunt.

  10. How did he manage to hide his hate for so long. He was always anti conservative, with cutting off speakers etc. But since retirering he has become a vicious vindictive idiot. He has lost all credibility. And he will be around to cover the next election.

  11. Newman knows the ONLY way he will get the Senate appointment that should have been his, not Duffy's, is to do all he can to get the Liberals elected again.

  12. MaryT, The PM knows that he is hated and not one juniorlist reporter can tell you why they hate him.

Newman, CBC CTV ETC are causing their own downfall for what they did to the PM, his party, country, troops, and to canadians. The media will 'pay' for the daily manipulation, lies and brainwashing.
PMSH is the PM of Canada not the liberals ndp bloc omar khadr, hezbollah, tamil ltte tiger, al-qaeda, taliban, CBC CTV nor any of those dimwit reporters.

PM took our nation to the world, got awards, we became the envy of the world, PM put our country government on the history books when he represented our nation at the S.Korea assembly for the first time in canadian history. Apparently the mildew media thought not to tell canadians of this great news.

How can one get good media reporting when the national media can see only HELL looking at them.
