It would appear that the leader of the opposition has forgotten that the Prime Minister of this country was elected by Canadians. Today in the foyer of the Commons Iggy popped off about how the legislature is "the sovereign", how HE is "the sovereign" because HE was elected by the people. The Prime Minister according to Igg is not "the sovereign", presumably because unlike Ignatieff the Prime Minister is not elected by the people. Perhaps Iggy is looking too far ahead to his own leadership, where he can become Prime Minister without a mandate from the people? He doesn't like pesky leadership elections, so why not just circumvent the entire process?
Mike, the Prime Minister is elected by Canadians whether you like to admit it or not. He is elected in the riding he represents, and every Canadian coast to coast to coast who voted for a Tory candidate did so knowing full well that their vote was likely to produce a Tory government. Having won more votes than any other party, the Conservatives earned the right in an election to be "the Sovereign". Shit Mike, you haven't even the right to be "the Sovereign" of the Liberal Party! You were they guy passed over for Stephane Dion. That has to sting a little when you look in the mirror at night. If you were to face another leadership convention, somehow I suspect that Bob Rae might become "the sovereign"...

ReplyDeleteNO political party or leader EVER becomes the Sovereign in our system of government. We are a constitutional monarchy; the QUEEN is the Sovereign.
ReplyDeleteIggy is our beloved Jarome...the other one is Iffy, Mr I or a bunch of other names! Igomaniac maybe!
ReplyDeleteExcuse me, but WTF?? Who elected Iggiot to anything? I recall that little puppet being appointed- not elected by Canadians. What a useless shit. And he wants to be PM.. what, by appointment? Wouldn't that make him akin to a dictator??
