Minister of Health Leona Aglukkaq

I would like to take a moment to say that I was very impressed with the Minister of Health in Question Period on Tuesday. Ever since she defeated the swine flu, she now speaks in the House of Commons with much more confidence. Perhaps if I had crushed a global pandemic as she did, I would have that level of confidence in my blog posts. Ujjal Dosanjh went on the attack, and she responded admirably. I will admit that I was skeptical of her appointment in cabinet at the beginning, but her ability to thwart viral hysteria has won me over.

  1. Coming from the consensus tradition of the Territorial Legislature, she appeared at first a little out of place in that partisan brawl known as Question Period. You are right though, she handled herself extremely during in the H1N1 crisis and deserves the praise she earned. She is much less glad-handing politician than Operator and that makes her my kind of politician, someone who values results more sound-bites. Reminds me of David Emerson.

  2. YOUR POLL, is IMPOSSIBLE!
Holy smokes, I'm sick with all suggestions but obviously NONE of them could occur, if something else NEVER happens!

Great kudos to the Health Minister, her charming little smirk at the conclusion was priceless!

  3. Does anybody read beyond the headlines that grabb attention?
In the latest pile on of Jaffer and Guergis we have this malicious headline thrown out

First a plea bargain, now a tax break
    for Rahim Jaffer
When we take the time to read the article we find that Jaffer made a $500 voluntary charitable contribution and is thus entitled to a tax receipt and an income tax rebate as does everyone else who does the same.
Do we have good reason to question the motives of the media when they put out this pernicious and harmful headline?

  4. I adore her. I thought it was a really great appointment from the get-go. She was a bit shaky at the start, but she's much more comfortable now. She's probably one of my favourite ministers just because she's humble, constructive, and quietly competent.

  5. Lisa Raitt never accomplished anything as sexy as a victory over swine flu.
