Does the Taliban Watch the CBC?

You have wonder if in a time of war our enemy would have the wherewithal to watch our public broadcaster when making command and control decisions. I wonder because within two weeks of this revamped Afghan detainee debate in Canadian Parliament, the Taliban carried out a coordinated military assault on a prison in Kandahar. Thankfully none of the 4 Canadian corrections officials were harmed, and our Canadian forces responded rapidly to the incident and the Afghan officers we have been training repelled the prison break.

There is a hazard to releasing sensitive military information on our intelligence operations while our troops are still fighting in that war zone. I trust Justice Iacobucci to filter our documents on this matter far more than I trust Ujjal Dosanjh. In fact I don't trust Ujjal at all. Maybe it is just a coincidence that an Afghan prison is attacked within two weeks of the resumption of our opposition demanding the release of sensitive information regarding Afghan prisons. Or perhaps they are following Canadian news closer than we know.

  1. Yes! I remember reading in the NATIONAL POST a year ago that the taliban do watch the CBC.

    CBC is the taliban's al-gazeera.

  2. Coincidence? I think not. The taliban are smart. Or maybe they're not - we are talking about them watching the CBC...

  3. I just put a post that's somewhat related to this.

    Read the book, "Lone Survivor".

Basically, the Taliban/al Qaida follow western media very closely, with particular attention to pressures created by "liberal" sniveling from politicians and the MSM. It's quite shocking to learn just how well they've figured out our "system", and how they in turn pretty much shove it all right back up our collective unowhats. They even pack cell phones so that they can summon in the media within minutes at every opportunity to take full advantage of this bleeding heart crap.

People on this side of the world have no idea whatsoever, not the foggiest clue in hell, of what our troops are up against, not just the vicious bloodthirsty methods of terrorists, but from our own side!

  5. Dosanjh..once a Marxist, forever a Marxist.

If the Libs were in power, he would be defense minister. Scary.

  6. When I worked at DND I questioned what I thought was frivolous classification of documents. I got a clear lesson in why what to me seemed innocuous could cost peoples' lives if released

  7. Just think what will happen if the Liberals get their paws on all the documentation relative to the "detainees issue". The first thing will be that some Liberal, who owes a favour to a CBC reporter, will make sure that the reporter gets the whole story. And the CBC, being the great national symbol that they are, will broadcast the news far and wide.

Meanwhile, Walid and Yasser, in some cave in Pakistan, will be scribbling away furiously as the list of undercover agents, co-operating Afghanis, and freedom fighters is made known to the world.

That way, in a week or so, the CBC can tell us all what a bunch of fools we are to be in Afghanistan as the entire intelligence apparatus crumbles.

  8. I saw on the CBC today that a private member's bill is being introduced to prevent citizens from being tortured if in other countries (presumably we aren't tortured here except by the CBC news). Another means to keep this story in the press. George Bush all the time, torture all the time - maybe this is a fetish or something?
