Some Fresh Liberal Hypocrisy

I find it to be an interesting hypocrisy emerging this weekend from the Liberal "chattering class". An Ignatieff colleague in academia is alleging that our intelligence officials deliberately flagged prisoners specifically to be tortured, but he can't show you his proof because it would be a threat to national security. Meanwhile, Liberal MP Derek Lee is challenging the Government in contempt for not releasing all documents unredacted to the public. One Liberal claims war crimes but says he can't prove it for national security reasons, and another Liberal demands that all documents be released whether they include sensitive information or not. What's wrong with this picture?

I would like to know when Attaran obtained these documents. Did he just get them immediately he went to the press, or did he receive them a while ago and wait until he and Donolo perceived the possibility of making a partisan impact? Either way, I will remain skeptical of the professor until his allegations are addressed.

  1. I saw that guy on the news - he has that smarmy, smug look to him. I also didn't find him credible. But who knows - maybe he's got proof. We just can't verify it - so the score is now 0-0 (Conservatives aren't giving out documents, and now a Liberal sympathizer is doing the same...). Gotta love politics!

Do the Liberals only hire people with big eyebrows? (Attaran, Ignatieff...)

  2. If this clown Professor got documents that the official opposition can't get someone somewhere in the system should be charged with treason.

  3. The old adage that "if it is too good to be true then it probably isn't" applies here. How great for the Libs that a professor comes forward to say that he has seen all the documents and knows that the Gov't sent prisoners to be knowingly tortured. Then as you have stated che makes excuses as to why he can't show us the evidence.

I would bet the farm that Attaran consulted a lawyer (a Liberal one no doubt) before publicly making this claim to see if he wasn't exposing himself to a lawsuit.

He had better have had good advice.

  4. A Judge will see ALL the documents, so all the nutbars Iffy drags out of his 'you owe me' bag, don't amount to squat now.
All those expert opinions can take aim at a Judge instead of our troops.

It also means the accusations from the Opps will be proved or disproved.
Pretty much the end of the road for them on this issue.
If they press on, they could look like real idiots when the Judge files his report.

  6. Of course Attaran is a liberal hack, which is neither here, nor there, but to be so blatant and claim you have Secret documents is another thing. Have the RCMP and CSIS bring this jerk to the fore and either produce them, or find out how is got them. Personally my take on it would be - Pure and Utter BS. The only other scenario would be for him to have gotten them illegally, so investigation is necessary and following that Hard Jail Time for being in possession of documents he is not cleared to have.
This man is not cleared to "rumor" let alone Confidential docs.
    The man is anil.

  7. So, via a FOI request, Mr. Attaran has access to this secret document that if revealed in totality, would consitute a breach of national security, hence his reason for not revealing them in turn. However, why can't the Official Opposition just have access the same way via a FOI request as a law professor, other than screaming that Harper is destroying democracy by withholding for the same reason mr. Attaran is?

It is becoming more apparentby the day that something doesn't smell right. I hope the government pursues this further.

  8. It is not illegal to declare you saw a unicorn, Elvis or unredacted documents.

Providing actual proof is the only difficulty they seem to be having atm.

Who would have thought so many Liberals have formed a "birthers" group in Canada.

  9. I noticed during QP just now that Duceppe asked not one single question during his opening leader's perogative regarding this "issue". Layton chose to use his first question to ask about the budget and woman's issues therein. Hmmmm, I wonder why. You almost feel sorry for the Liberals. Almost. ;D

  10. Ujjal's new favourite word is "rendition", which he openly accused the Government in QP of actively participating in.
