Plan B: Blame Harper

After some of the stories that broke today about the shady nature of the gentleman at the heart of the Guergis-Jaffer allegations, you could see a shift beginning in the Liberal strategy later in the day. They abandoned Guergis-gate in Question Period (at least in the CBC televised portion), instead passing the baton again to the Bolsheviks to cry wolf over the detainee matter (which Peter MacKay handled beautifully). Then in the late afternoon, the narrative on Guergis shifted to did the PM overreact by expelling her from caucus. I never agreed that she should be removed from caucus, and I think if she's cleared she should be immediately reinstated.

Of course the Liberal defense for their own baseless accusations was that they think the PM should have disclosed all information about the allegations when he contact the RCMP to investigate their validity. Well the allegations are of partying with prostitutes and snorting cocaine, which if they are false are incredibly slanderous. That stigma will likely be with her for the rest of her life, even if the allegations are proven false. The PM did exactly the right thing in contacting the police to investigate the claims; though Manbridge thinks the Prime Minister should have conducted his own personal investigation, perhaps in lieu of attending the international nuclear summit.

If the RCMP determines that she did nothing wrong, then the public should not have known any of these details, meaning that it would have been appropriate not to disclose them until their validity was verified. Manbridge and I disagree on who should have conducted the investigation. Does anyone not think that if the PMO had conducted a private investigation and then dismissed the allegations that Peter and friends would be furious?

Now after weeks of demanding Helena's resignation (which the opposition demanded long before the most recent allegations), Liberals are now attacking Harper for acting too swiftly to remove her from the employment that they had spent months demanding be terminated! It is absolutely crazy! The Liberals are blaming anyone but themselves for their own childish behavior. I think someone sang a song once upon a time that would elicit a standing ovation at the next Liberal caucus meeting...

"whatever you do, don't put the blame on you"

  1. It's going to be more than a little amusing:

These allegations demonstrate that you had poor judgement putting Guergis in cabinet. Unless they're unfounded, in which case you have poor judgement because you listened to us.

    BRILLIANT!Home run post.
Btw,you are doing an incredible job analyzing this obsessive behaviour from these media vultures.
There ain't a conservative body they won't obsessively gnaw at and pick clean.

I'm finding it rather interesting as well the timing of a certain legend liberal blogger calling off the fellow vultures...
    What say You?

  3. The media and opposition parties made a very public display of their race to the bottom.
CTV and CBC and the Star appeared to be competing for 'most outrages allegations'.

Canadians are not stupid, they witnessed the destruction of the lives and careers of Helen and Jaffer
by Iffy, his coalition partners and the liberal's media.
Kinsella called it a goddamn disgrace, enough is enough.

My opinion, you guys are busted and if I am wrong, I will admit it, you guys will gloat I suspect.
It's simply your badge of honor so wear it with all that impeccable integrity that is just so...so...so...hard to find.. and uncover.

  6. When Liberal Premier Ghiz comes out to defend a Federal Conservative Minister,
    yah know, as usual,
under the leadership of the most [...self censor...] to ever walk the halls of Parliament, the Liberals have gone too far, again and again.

Canadians seek fairness, and they are not stupid.

  7. Asking an MP to sit outside caucus while he/she is investigated is SOP for this PM. He has done it on a number of occasions, and when the investigation has cleared the MP, he/she is invited back.

This is slightly different from "being booted out of caucus" as media like to tell us.

  8. wilson...
'CTV and CBC and the Star appeared to be competing for 'most outrages allegations'.

Wilson, you know that show on television "the worse handyman-(something to that nature).

Well, the CBC CTV GLOBE, STAR are competing with each other to see which media is the worse of all and which one is the best to win award and gain reputation as the best NATIONAL INQUIRER.

But when it comes to fair and balance reporting and commentary, is nowhere to be seen and heard. How we know? simple, the liberals have yet to be questioned on the missing 40 million dollars and the 56billion E.I. scandal.
Yet those same medias will live by toilet gossip, inuendos, anything which is against the conservatives.

  9. I don't think Mansbridge suggested that Harper PERSONALLY investigate allegations (so why the snide comment about the nuclear conference? . The PMO has a huge staff which could have done some checking on Guergis after the Jaffer fiasco and Guergis' meltdowns, etc.
Me thinks your political bias is influencing your thought processes.

  10. The MSM is 24hour Liberal BS..This includes the Television and most of the radio stations.Just do not support these stations or go on air...When asked for interviews,Conservative members should just say no to the MSM ,and tell them to get lost.Only libs and NdP will be heard and seen, and the MEDIA will be seen for what they are Opposition propaganda machines...Solution...Support local television stations in each major area of the country with Conservative only media to get the message out..Also address the nation every month on the CBC which is owned by Canadians and should be used by Canadians for Canadian news not a propaganda station of Liberal opinion.Another way to get the truth out of these lying spin doctors is make them very aware that they will be SUED to the maximum every time they falsify the news or create a false scandal. As an example, the opposition should be ordered to shut their GD mouths about Guergis till the investigation is over. And finally take away their parliament privileges regarding saying anything they want and not having to worry about a lawsuit. In other words if they say something in the house that they wont say outside of the house ,they can be sued..Lets see how big a mouth these sleaze balls have then. There are many, many ways to make these big mouth LIB-NDP-Blockheads start acting civilized and start doing their jobs. After all 4 years of paying these ass-holes for doing absolutely nothing is a little bit much.
