NDP Flying Sky High

According to Allan Gregg, the NDP are now soaring to new heights in the polls, and at this shocking rate of growth Jack Layton might just be our next Prime Minister. Sure the rapid rate of incline suggests that the poll itself is an aberration, but at least at this midway point of our country's 40th Parliament it is an interesting moment of sober second thought to see the NDP rise rapidly in a very short period of time. The Tories do better as the NDP become stronger.

If it is true and NDP support is surging, that is bad news for the Liberal Party. It is especially concerning considering that Ignatieff has been narrowly focused on gaining support on the Liberal left flank. If Liberals are shifting to the NDP, then not only has Iggy failed to gain NDP supporters, but he's actually losing the most leftist of Liberals. I know that the purpose of Ujjal and Bob being so often passed the microphone is designed to shore up their left flank, but it isn't working.

I will be curious to see if Kady O'Malley discusses the latest Harris Decima poll, as it does have the Tories at a low number. I know that Kady's policy is to only talk about Ekos polls, so let's see if she strays from her blind support of the Liberal Graves digger.

  1. The surging NDP vote can only benefit the Conservatives. With the exception of their traditional areas of support the NDPs popularity is a mile wide and an inch deep. The votes that they do garner will not be from conservatives but from disaffected Liberals which will split the left wing even further.

  2. This would be good news to take from a depressing poll - but when was the last time not one single party was over 30%? That's a crappy result for everyone, even the Blue team.

Could the CPC conceivably take a majority if the left split itself so evenly as to cancel each other out? That would probably start a riot, because the left is crazy...

  3. Since Harper is into Keynesian economics(apparently), CO2 controls, world social movements, sending our tax dollars over seas and increasing profits for drug dealers and therefore more violence on the streets through the war on drugs what is the difference who runs the country into the ground?
Can't see by any actions that Harper is less socialist than any other Party leader.
Sadly disappointed in our party and leader for the last yr or so.
Can anyone tell me why I should not feel this way about our party?
Still won't vote for any of the opposition but finding it hard to vote "Conservative" either.
Cheering for Detroit tonight but only so they continue in the play offs long enough for the Canucks to send them golfing, sadly another series is necessary before that showdown.
    Go Detroit! Go Canucks!
