We spent too much on the pig flu???

How on earth did that ever happen? As this story was breaking this week, my reaction was "duh, what did you expect?" I remember Bob Rae going on the Soloman Show, looking into the camera with the cold glare of the grim reaper himself, and proclaiming that many Canadians were going to die from pig flu and that it would be the Government's fault. Everyone was pilling on, saying more needed to be done; then right around the time the Vancouver Sun ran the giant headline declaring "IT'S ABOUT TO GET A LOT WORSE", the pig flu seemed to vanish from the news cycle. The opposition was ringing Hell's Bells proclaiming this an inevitable catastrophe, so is it any wonder that we diverted too many resources into what was never the threat that Bobby predicted?

I fully confess that I was skeptical of Minister Aggluklak's appointment to the health portfolio; because I thought it was too big a file for the first time parliamentarian from the sparsely populated Nunavut. But her handling of the H1N1 file was very impressive and her performance has won me over to her fan club. She defeated the swine flu. What has Bob Rae ever done for Canada?

  1. He did get naked with Rick Mercer that one time. But that's all I can think of. And I wouldn't call it a good thing...

  2. Remember some in the opposition and the media were saying that the Swine Flu would be end up being Harper's Katrina? Didn't turn out quite like that now, did it?

  3. When BOB RAE was refused entry into SRI-LANKA by the Sri-Lanka government and do you know who stood to defend Bob Rae ? PM. Stephen Harper.

BOB FIFE got an earful from RAE when he asked a question but instead of Fife getting an answer, Rae told Fife to 'shut up'- not bad coming from a former NDPER who bankrupt his own province. And instead of FIFE been angry or outrage at should a remark, he thought it to be rather funny.
Now can you imagine a conservative telling FIFE to shut up, well the pope will know of it.

It goes to show you the liberals' control over the media. Sad very sad.
Bob Rae, was hoping to treat Minister Aggluklak like a fool since she is new therefore lacks experience. But, she proved to be very wrong.
Good on you Minister Aggluklak. don't let the dogs bite

  4. The Liberals were busy depicting the government as racists and it would be our Kartina.

It was great for fundraising for the Liberals.

A few minor hiccups. They sent a 10% after the fact it was discovered the public nurse ordered too many body bags.

CBC discover (caught staging?) a Liberal staffer Mark with family in lineup for an critical piece on the delivery of H1N1. Must have been a coincidence.

They accused the gov't of incomptence for a single source supplier that was discovered to be a big donor to the Liberals.

Yes the media, public service officials over reacted to a few deaths of healthy young people.

    The public panicked.

Our health services are not prepared to deal with a real pandemic.

The connected people will always jump the queue.

Nothing new just a massive bill.

  5. When Canadian lives are on the line, I'd rather see the government do too much than too little. I don't think many Canadians would disagree with that.

    Maybe Bob Rae.
