Ralph Goodale: The "Good Faith" Negotiator

Today we have learned that Ralph Goodale has been selected by Ignatieff to "negotiate in good faith" the terms of this compromise that is supposed to be reached in the next two weeks between the Government and the opposition parties. Is it not just a little bit ironic that the man selected to "negotiate in good faith" is one of the most petulant attack dogs in Question Period? We should check the Hansard to see which Liberal MP has made the most references to "neo con social engineering", because it is safe to assume that Ralph's name is at or near the top of the list. Were Mark Holland and Ujjal Dosangh not available for this "good faith" diplomatic mission?

If the Liberal idea of "negotiating in good faith" is to send a negotiator who frequently accuses the Tories of subverting democracy while engaging in right wing social engineering, then let's send John Baird to negotiate on the Government's behalf. Sending in the Goodale is not a measure of "good faith". It is more like a poison pill.

PS: I am emphasizing "good faith" because Iggy said it about 40 times in his presser this morning.

  1. I will not do it; I will not put the lives of our troops in the hands of the liberals nor the ndp nor the bloc. I don't care if I have to go the polls, so be it. And I get the impression that Peter M.(speaker)wants an election as well.

Peter knows what the prime minister will do.

  2. The waffle has NO interest in visiting the Polls and getting a mandate.

If he does he will prove Dion was a better leader.

He knows it, we know it.

Bob Rae wants an election, so he can a kick at the can before he hits another birthday.

  4. hahaha! Right wing social engineering eh? Looks like Ralph reads our blogs and then makes stuff up that sounds like it. So that's how he keeps his seat.

At least we can all agree that social engineering is evil. Poor ralphy doesn't know his own team.

  5. This has the potential to be very interesting, "good faith"? from the Coalition. That just isn't in the cards. Will PM Harper throw our troops to the mercy of the Coalition? I don't think that scenario needs to be dignified with an answer.
A large number of the Bloc are closing in on pension eligibility, as is Mr Ignitieff. The Liberals are still broke.
If there ever was a better time, I haven't seen it, most Canadians are not in favor of surrendering to the Taliban cheer leading Coalition.
    Support our Troops.
Would it not be sweet to
    Give the Conservatives a majority
Kick Mr Ignatieff and the Bloc out without their pension.
I believe most Canadians are sick to their stomachs at the never ending gotcha of the 40th Parliament. Finding that CBC's no#1 pollster has donated the max to the Liberals and did 61 million in business with them smells like 2 week old road-kill also.
    cheers Bubba

  6. Ralphie? You mean the same Ralph Goodale that apparently helped negotiate the terms of the Coalition with Marlene Jennings?
Interesting choice but a perfect fit, I'd say. Sneaky, conniving and self serving.

  7. Let Ralph negotiate, just don't let him see the documents. We've seen how good he is at keeping secrets.

  8. Goodale is the least trustworthy Liberal that I can think of.

He is lower than a snake's undercarriage.

    Go to an election first.

  9. Goodale is one of the Senior Liberals who still has AdScam stench all over him. This can't be good. There will be no good faith with that guy in the room. TGM
