Wind Turbines On Juno Beach???

When I saw this story on the news, it felt like an April Fool's joke made in really bad taste. The same beach where Canadian soldiers landed on D-Day to help liberate Europe is set for the construction of a thousand new wind turbines courtesy of the government of France. A revered historical site is going to be littered with a thousand giant spinning turbines? Gee won't that be a lovely backdrop for our future D-Day commemorative ceremonies. What else can I say? This is ridiculous. Show some gratitude for your freedom France. Build your wind farm somewhere else.

  1. Probably a bunch of revisionist leftards behind this. You know how they like to rewrite history; they'd probably like to downplay the significance of Juno Beach and forget all about what happened there-- or take sides with the Axis and claim the memorial is offensive and should therefore be removed.

  2. A Veteran arriving in France for D-Day cerimonies was going through French customs. The French Customs Agent rudely told the Vet that he should have his passport ready when getting to the counter. The Vet appologized and explained he didn't think he needed his passport. "What is dis u say" the customs agent said with disgust. "But of course you need a passport to enter France". The Vet again appologized and explained that the last time he arrived in France it was June 6th 1944 and there were no Frenchmen around to give his passport to!!!

    Oldie but a goodie.

  3. I read recently that France was going to increase it's nuclear power capability,so this came as a bit of a surprise.

Perhaps they're trying to please everyone at once, greens and "practicals".

  4. It will never get built, France and the rest of Europe will be dragged down by the four PIGS.

  5. I'm not keen on it either, but it should be noted - from what I have read - that the wind turbines will be mounted 10kms offshore.

  6. May I remind the first anonymous, that a right wing government is in france right now.

  7. Ok, duly noted. Thanks for the info.

However, it doesn't change my level of disgust, it only deepens it.

seriously, I thought only some antimilitary lefty could cook this up.
