Matt Gurney Explains Iggy Beautifully!

I have had the opportunity now to read a few opinions about Ignatieff's response to today's Guergis resignation, and I think Matt Gurney at the National Post summed it up beautifully:

"Really, Mr. Ignatieff? Calling into question the Prime Minister's judgment is fair, that's politics. Demanding that he reveal details of an ongoing criminal investigation before charges have been laid? Are you that desperate to get some traction on an issue, to maybe begin to close the polling gap you've proven singularly unable to narrow, that you'd seriously expect Mr. Harper to drag the PMO into the middle of an ongoing criminal investigation that's ... what, 12 hours old, if that?

If charges are laid, they'll be made public instantly. You'll get your pound of flesh then. And if there is no substance to the allegations that finally brought down the flaming wreck that was Mrs. Guergis's career, then they don't much matter, do they? Not to those disinterested in scoring cheap political points, at any rate. Nice try linking the entire Conservative party to a criminal investigation, though. No doubt you'll keep it up a while longer. Can't wait."

Trust me, I haven't given away Matt's piece. It gets even better. Read for yourself.  If Gurney alone doesn't quench your thirst, Springer at Sort of Political also had a great take on Iggy's scrum.

  1. It will be fun when they keep trying to attack her if she is sitting alone without a party or any support.

Will they continue and look like bullies on this file?

  2. Can you see Guergis as an independant rising to make demands or questionable request to the prime minister " will there be an investigation into the liberal mps who refused to repay their loans?"

"I find it strange Mr. PM that the media are constantly on the conservative case yet they just can't bring themselves to hound the liberal party of canada for the missing 40 million dollars which they apparently show no interest of investigating but took great pains to hound me."
