With CTV releasing the details tonight of the allegations at the source of the Guergis RCMP investigation, I feel as though I should ask the question; do we need mandatory drug testing in Parliament. "Magnum PI" as Layton so affectionately called him claimed to have knowledge of Helena and her husband partying with cocaine and high priced prostitutes (for which he claims photographic exists). Magnum contacted a Tory attorney, who contacted the Prime Minister. This allegation is very specific and is in regard to incidents alleged to have taken place. The Prime Minister would not have had any knowledge of this particular party, and he reported it to the authorities when it first crossed his desk.
If the allegations turn out not to be true, then somebody is guilty of libel. It is unfortunate that all this information is now public, before law enforcement officials were able to substantiate the claim. But, the opposition demanded all the details be made public, even if they aren't true. To justify their demand for immediate information, the opposition have been making wild and baseless accusations and then saying that their allegations are the Prime Minister's fault for not telling us the details of what may turn out to be a false libelous claim against the former Minister. If the allegations are found not to be credible by the RCMP, I'm sure Helena will be re-admitted to the Tory caucus.
I don't know about you, but I don't want members of Parliament snorting blow. Should we introduce drug testing for our elected officials? I'm sure there are at least a few opposition MPs who like to "party".
actually the ones at fault should Be Jack Layton and the NDP they support drug addiction people so I don't see why he so up in arms about this. he should just look at his cookie Mp members. another thing Magnum Tom selleck is a Republican. in the states he is no Far left koolaid Drinker. I have stopped listening to cbc and ctv eons ago since duffy left the show. the only thing I like on CBC is Hockey nite in Canada and rex Murphy on CCCup thats it. other wise I listen to the fox news and watch it. way more exciting. my name is Roy cause I am using anonymous and didn't want people to think I was coward not to use my name on here.
ReplyDeleteWhen you consider there are likely hundreds of operators, both criminal and foreign, whose full time job it is to compromise politicians and civil servants, I think there is some merit for mandatory drug testing throughout Ottawa. One less open door to weed out the vulnerable.
ReplyDeleteThe Chinese Triads were particularly successful at infiltrating Canada in the nineties. According to Ezra's last post, they now snag about a billion dollars a day in technology and secrets.
WRT current allegations, all I can say is you would need to be naive in the extreme if you don't believe you aren't photographed going into a strip club. The Hell's Angels even scan your Driver's License before they let you in for crying out loud.
Blackmail is the oldest trick in the book simply because it works so well.
YES! You need a drug test to turn a wrench in the oil patch. Its a good idea to hold our leaders to the same standard.
ReplyDeleteOne is photographed almost every where they go, malls, hospitals, grocery stores etc.
ReplyDeleteNowhere is there any indication in the stories that the "couple" were using cocaine, just they were possibly photographed where it was being used. As for the drug being "found" in his pocket, was the pkg checked for fingerprints, and why did the officer go thru his pockets.
Did his blood test show cocaine, we don't know.
Was he set up and was the pkg planted on him, it has happened to people before.
Fife was just on ctv, fiffing another story re lobbying as if it is a proven fact.

Anonymous, I watch FOX, just yesterday, a panel of three were on a show discussing economy and how things are done and should be done. Canada was mentioned, they like the idea of how each province handles their affairs rather than the government.
ReplyDeleteWOW, hearing our country from their lips and not from liberals' media here tells me, that canada does not have a media but the liberals do.
In fact, the taliban watches the CBC because they know that CBC is on their side.
The workplace where my husband worked does random drug-testing. the employees are not told ahead of time the time nor day nor which deptarment will be tested . the drug testers just appeared without warning.
ReplyDeleteNow if this 'radom' testing was to take place in HOC, and the rest of employees working in the Parliament most likely, they would find some mps and others 'floating' in space.
Also any man who is an mp who goes to a strip joint on their leisure time can be investigated particularly if you are a conservative, for a liberal, that is not a problem.
The PI said Nazim Gillani told him, he had cellphone pics of the couple 'partying' to keep Jaffer in line.
ReplyDeleteThe PI said Nazim Gillani told him, he had 3 offshore shell companies set up in Helena's name.....
The Star then notes that Nazim Gillani tells whoppers sometimes...
RCMP called in by govt (or the CPC?).
and in other but similar news, because both are allegations with no evidence (so far)
Most Quebecers find Bellemare more credible than Liberal government (Charest refuses to call in RCMP, deals only with the judges thing)

But we know, when you are dealing with a Liberal and Conservative scandal at the same time,
who gets the most ink...(sigh)
Drug tests for MP's is one rule that you'll never see enacted. I dare say that the further Left the politician, the more likely he is to partake, for the simple reason there's no stigma attached to drug use by most left wingers.
ReplyDeleteAnd before a Judge is confirmed in his appointment to the SCC,I'd like to see him subjected to Dr.Robert Hare's series of tests to out psychopaths, for obvious reasons.
DMorris
Drug testing? No.
