Top News Story Of 2011?
What in your opinion was the top news story of 2011? Was it the Conservatives winning a majority government? There were significant events in the world, like the deaths of Bin Laden, Kim Jong Ill, Jack Layton, Steve Jobs and Muamar Gaddafi. There was the Japanese earthquake, the crisis in Attiwapiskat, the occupy protests, the European debt crisis, the Arab spring, and the US withdrawal from Iraq. Quite a lot of significance happened in this year, so today's poll question, what do you think is the biggest story? Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot, there were shootings in Norway, the death of Steve Jobs, Prince William and Kate were married, and Charlie Sheen had a public meltdown. There are certainly many stories to choose from.

Arab spring, but not in a good sense. I see that 'The Protestor' is the person of the year as if the protestors (not too many left) in Iran a while back are equal to the protestors in Egypt or even the occupy wall street pretenders.
ReplyDelete2011 might be remembered as the year so many dictators and other leaders, left the planet.
ReplyDeleteKilling Bin Laden, occupy protests, US military withdrawal from Iraq, Will & Kate!!
ReplyDeleteIts a tuff one Ice...I'd have to say the Japanese tsunami if perhaps only from a human element angle.
ReplyDeleteTruly a devastating occurrence from which Japan will take many years to fully recover.
What stands out though is the Japanese society's ability to take mishap in stride and find the superhuman strength to do this.
No rioting, no looting, no murder,no shooting...no breakdown of the social order and no collective whining.
Heck...here in Vancouver the home team can't even lose the cup without all h*ll breaking loose.
As for the 'occupy' movement...I don't even want to go there.
