CBC Expense Scandal

This emerging scandal over CBC expenses is starting to build momentum. Now that the Prime Minister has decided to soften his position on the Auditor General reviewing the expenses of Members of Parliament, will the CBC do the same? They are currently in Federal Court protecting their right not to tell you how they spend your $1.2 billion dollars in tax money. The CBC tax intake is more than double that of Parliament. They spend twice as much of our money as our Members of Parliament, and they don't want you to know how they spend that money.

Hopefully now that it looks increasingly likely that Parliament will turn over their expenses, hopefully the CBC can follow suit and show some responsibility to the tax payers who pay for Milewski's expense account. I am excited to learn more about MP expenses because I'm sure we will find out very quickly who in Iggy's caucus was fighting this.

  1. It is interesting who will defend if MPs or CBC to keep their records private.

I don't know anyone who thinks either group should be entitled to our money and not full disclosure.

Interesting to see if we can form a real consensus across political lines.

Who are they protecting and what are they hiding?

  2. CBC "paid' by us is the secret resting place for the liberal party.
Mansbridge how much for him to say nothing

'KILL HIM' guy Scott Reid gets paid to hate-how much?

O'Malley get paid to play on twitter while sits in committee- how much.

Milewski, Boner etc etc etc, how much are we paying these people to report the same story.
    How about EVAN S.
We are their employers and as far as I know, they are all 'FIRED.'

  3. I don't really need to see in minute detail my MP's expenses; I just need to know (s)he is taking only appropriate expenses. Right about now, I would rather see clear-cut guidelines as to what MP's can or cannot expense. My ideal guidelines would be along the lines of allowable expenses for a small business or employee on their tax return, as well as the requirement that all expenses be properly documented according to CRA rules.

There are too many 'reporters' out there salivating at the thought of rummaging through MP expenses for the 'gotya' moment. Absent moat cleaning, billing for the wrong house, or porno flicks on the spouse's card, I am not that interested in the grotty little details. Of course, I would like to see the expenses of all the soi-disant reporters clamouring to take a peek.

  4. I want it all. Not that I could be bothered to look at any of it myself. I just want the CBC and MP's to know who's dime they are on, and that we might object.
