Who Attacked The NDP Leadership Vote?

Okay so let me get this straight, the company responsible for the NDP's online voting in their recent leadership race claims that someone hacked hundreds if not thousands of computers and directed them to the website where the NDP was conducting online voting in order to suppress democracy. They are not openly accusing the Conservatives, but did say that such attacks are "often launched as protests by the organization's political or economic opponents" and came from 10,000 different IP addresses. Hint hint. Do you really think the Conservatives would do this while already under investigation for electoral fraud? How stupid would you have to be to do such a thing when so many are trying so hard to convict them of a similar crime? Meanwhile, what is the probability that the NDP's online voting problems were the result of a technical glitch or the system being unable to handle the volume of voters? Allegations of a "cyber attack" came pretty early in the day, not long after after the problems began. But hey, accusing Pierre Poutine 2.0 of a cyber attack makes for a better news story than a technical glitch or system flaw.

Today's poll question; what is the most plausible explanation for the NDP leadership race internet voting problems? Was it a large scale cyber attack from the Tories or Liberals? Was it a technical glitch? Was it foreign espionage? Was it Anarchists?

  1. It's my opinion that this was likely a systems flaw. In order to even access the vote site, one should have been required to BE AN ELGIBLE VOTER with a PIN#. My understanding is that this was not the case, anyone could hit the site.
To me, that is a systems flaw, a design flaw, call it what you may but that should not have been permitted for this election. It suggests an insecure site imo.

  2. The cons aren't that stupid, but they are arrogant to think they can get away with it all.

  3. Two or three knowledgeable people with soft ware set up to replicate mail from multiple IP could carry this out. It will probably turn out to be a few strange ducks in isolated apartments carrying it out.

    1. It doesn't even make sense for the grits to have done this. It doesn't make sense for a team member of some dipper candidate to do it either. I'm sure it will turn out to be some script kiddie who thought it'd be funny.

  6. Seemed to happen just after the second vote when Sid Ryan was outraged that peggy Nash didn't give her support to Topp and stayed in the race knowing this helped Mulcair get in. Lots of union members in this country. Would just take a phone call and VOILA.System over load.
Strange that QUEBEC had no problem where the NDP have support for Mulcair , yet BC had most of the problems.

  7. The total cast of potential votes (130k), visitors would not exceed 250k? Did the company fail to anticipate that amount of traffic? Bandwidth?

Denial of service attacks launched from host dummies has been taking place for a long time. The Spanish company could have set up a filter, sniffers to detect if a pattern was evident. A shortage of local staff onsite, prepared for the attack or just a bandwidth problem?

  8. I think that Pierre Poutine could be the Parliamentary page, that had a sign in parliament saying something about the PM and the CPC.I don't remember what the sign said or her name.

  9. Maybe Pierre Poutine is the parliamentary budget officer? He really hates the govt. Whatever the govt does or says, he goes in the opposite direction.

That page was on CTV as a guest on the P*P show with Don Martin. She's a hero to them.

  10. Why would anyone bother in the first place? As if the NDP leadership race is on anyone's radar (espionage, anarchists or 12 year olds inclusive). If there is any motive to this at all; the NDP would have to look to their own ranks.

It's laughable that the first thing that comes to the lefty mindset is some kind of evil cyber-crime instead of the simplest and most likely explanation. What a bunch of morons. Can they really be that paranoid and technically ignorant?

We haven't heard Mulcair or the MSM screaming about it so I'll give you one guess on how they voted.

Exactly Anonymous, the media is very predictable- no noise from the media tells us that they know who dunnit.

Whereas, had it been the CPC the media talks long and hard.

  11. Just finished watching the live CBC stream of Maynard from Election Canada. He ended his testamony with this statement…

“A report of calls to be placed at “MIDNIGHT” certainly DID NOT come from Elections Canada”.

He also said..”It is troubling that there are reports so long after the election that are not supported by specific FACTS’.

“A complaint does not mean an investigation”

    Ontario Girl......media making things up.
