On Friday Evan Soloman decided to dedicate half of his show to the day's burning question; do you think religious fundamentalists have too much influence in setting government policy? Ergo, have the scary religious people usurped the Conservative Party? 75% of Evan's audience thinks so. It is kind of like me asking do you think socialist fundamentalists have too much influence in setting Liberal policy? Therefore if this is what qualifies as professional journalism in Canada, I may as well ask the Tory equivalent.
Bob Rae and Ujjal Dosangh have risen for up the ranks of the Liberal caucus. The former NDP Premiers are now trusted in high profile portfolios, while one of them is considered the sure fire successor to the sitting leader. I think it is valid to ask if the Bolsheviks have usurped the Liberal Party. If Evan wants to do an hour on national television on religious fundamentalists, the least I can do is dedicate 2 paragraphs on a blog post to socialist fundamentalists. It seems only fair. Personally I'd rather live next door to a religious person than a radical atheist.
These poll questions by the way are authored by politics producer Ryan Hicks.
I'm still waiting to hear Marci McDonald the "centrist" come out and denounce all the extremists abusing her work for political and ideological gain.
ReplyDeleteUnless, of course, it isn't an abuse. Perhaps this is what she's always intended her book to be used for.
The question was loaded. Perhaps they could ask next week.
ReplyDeleteHow much should we cut from the CBC budget to help with the deficit, 300 million or 400 million?
Marci, Frank, Peter, want to invoke a culture war are securing support in the MSM with free publicity for calling for the hidden agenda re majority again.
They are framing Christians and the support of Israel via Rapture is scary.
How can anyone take this commentary serious?
I don't accept it, and think it speaks to the desperation from those who have lost power and don't think others should be allowed or trusted with a majority.
They have adopted many Bloc, NDP policies in trying to revive the coalition.$
The leftists grow increasingly desperate. When even the CBC resorts to conducting an investigation into their biased reporting, even though we all know what the findings will be, it is a sure sign that the socialists are starting to realize that their long reign of mismanagement is coming to an end. Expect the attacks on common sense to grow more rabid by the die-hard statists while the we'll-jump-on-the-latest-bandwagon crowd attempts to exculpate themselves from the sins of their past.
ReplyDeleteI just want to compliment you on your blog. I read it a lot and find your analyses to be timely and very often insightful and well-expressed. I agree with you probably 80-90% of the time and am so happy to see that you are willing to take the time to do this. I will donate a few shekles to your Blackberry.
ReplyDeleteThank you kindly.
ReplyDeletePlease remember that the political opposition is attempting to paint all Conservative supporters with the same culture war brush. You know and I know it is pure hogwash that they spew.
ReplyDeleteThat culture war has long ago been argued and resolved within the Conservative community. Certainly there is an underlying support for various religious beliefs but remember that it only relates to Conservative support for individualism. Only in the individual support is communal support fashioned. Communal governance is only relevant in the failure to accomodate the individual.
This is a Cons hidden agenda?
ReplyDeleteNot so fast Liberals, look within:
“Is (a vote) inevitable? I would say yes,” says Mississauga South’s Paul Szabo, among a handful of anti-abortion Liberal MPs in a sea of Conservatives.
“We will be back to reconsidering the question in the House . . . We’re taking incremental steps, small steps. It’s just a question of knowing when it’s the right time.”
