Let's pretend that Jerry Bruckheimer was planning on making a movie about Canada's fantastic rapid response to the Earthquake in Haiti. Which actor would you choose to play Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper? Which actor would make the best Mike Ignatieff, who we can show on vacation in France while the crisis was unfolding? I'd kind of like to see Saruman from Lord of the Rings play Iggy. Not Christopher Lee as Ignatieff, but Christopher Lee as Saruman as Ignatieff. Keith Richards acts. Do you think he'd be interested? He can keep his British accent for effect.
Would you pick Tom Cruise for the Prime Minister? Perhaps James Gandolfini? Russel Crowe may be the most versatile actor who could fit in such a role. I'd suggest Tom Sizemore, but his recent TV appearances disqualify him in my opinion. Oh, and incase you didn't figure it out already, Cruise and Tony Soprano was an amateur attempt at satire. But Alex Baldwin, that would be a real option.
Any suggestions?
Hands down William Shatner. He's Canadian and ruled his ship just like Harper rules this government.
ReplyDeleteGilbert Godfrey can play Ralph Goodale
ReplyDeletelol. Going old school some are not alive, but would do a great job.
ReplyDeleteGregory Peck, Clint Eastwood, Robert Niven, George Campbell Scott, Jeremy Irons, Liam Neeson.
I can't cooment on Mr. Harper, but Mr. Bean is my hands down choice for Iggy
ReplyDeleteCaptain Kirk is too old, imo. I would pick a REAL 50 year old. Gabriel Byrne, Richard Gere or George Clooney (although he's pretty socialist).
ReplyDeleteAs for Ignatieff I have no idea. Nothing comes to me although I love the Mr. Bean choice. Maybe Jim Carey could pull off the numerous face contortions that we have endured though so there it is, Jim Carey.
Boris Karloff for Iggy
ReplyDeleteRobert Redford for PMSH
Richard Widmark for Layton
Mr Bean, Robins111 you owe me a keyboard!!!
ReplyDeleteJoeFrmEdm
Jack Nicholson as Iggy. Sam Waterson as Harper.
ReplyDeleteRosie O'Donnell as Elizabeth May.
Peewee Herman as Jack Layton.
DMorris
Eugene Levy does an Ernest Borgnine that actually looks like Iggy.
ReplyDeleteJust take Count Chocula off the cereal box. That would work as well.
Meryl Streep with bushy eyebrows might be another.
Pee-Wee Herman could play Warren Kinsella.
Adam West.
ReplyDeleteTom Berenger as Harper.
ReplyDeleteMark Harmon for the PM.
ReplyDeleteSam the Eagle (from the Muppet Show) for Iggy...
Yeah, Mark Harmon would make a great Stephen Harper. Or how about Dustin Hoffman? I was thinking of Christopher Lloyd (I think that's his name) who played Ignatowski on Taxi as the other Iggy.
ReplyDeleteViggo Mortensen with face makeup and a body suit, could pass for him. And some voice mimicking.
ReplyDeleteIt shouldn't be beyond him.
Much better then the other picks.
Paul Gross. Hands down. Come on!
