Court Forces CBC To Hand Over Focus Group Results For TV Personalities

The CBC lost a court appeal forcing them to answer Access to Information requests that they had previously ignored on the grounds of protecting artistic secrets. Among the documents ordered be turned over are focus group results regarding CBC personalities, something that the CBC did not want to be made public. Many of us would love to see the results of this ATI request published in the media. Infact I hope that they have focus groups results for every single television personality, and that they become public information. If the CBC would like to keep this information private, they should stop taking money from the government.

This begs the question, which CBC personality has the most negative or damaging focus group results? On the news side it has to be Milewski or Soloman. The CBC repeatedly airs commercials for the Soloman Show with Evan pleading with viewers that he's "tough, but not unfair", over and over again. I wonder if that's what his focus group said? The most negative results probably come from their regular television programming, where they have some absolutely atrocious TV shows.

Which CBC TV personality has the most negative focus group results will be a future poll question, after a sufficient nomination period. Who do you think tested poorly, but kept their jobs anyway? The lead actor in Little Mosque is reportedly an alpha male within CBC ranks, so if he tested poorly it is plausible the results would be disregarded.

But even more than focus group results, the information I want to see the most is how much each show cost to make, and how much revenue each produced. Who made money, and who lost money? And how much?

  1. It would be interesting to see the results, i agree. Unfortunately, the CBC's war against Canada and Canadians isn't over yet. The CBC has so much to hide from the taxpayer. When a diseased, corrupt, propaganda organization like the CBC is threatened with accountability and transparency they will do as they've done before and waste untold amounts of taxpayer money on hiring ever more lawyers. For the CBC, the Supreme Court awaits. IMO the CBC is not done breaking the law yet. When you have an unlimited, unaccountable amount of someone elses money, and you're completely and utterly corrupt like the CBC is, you will go as far as you possibly can because the alternative would be disastrous to your agenda.

  2. You have said it better than I could Sean!
How much does news reader Mandsbridge get for doing his imitation of a happy mortician?
I am betting he gets at least 4 times what the Prime Minister does when all the perks are added up.
They need a real shakeup. They do not speak for me, or indeed for the majority of Canadians.
    Cheers Bubba

  4. Well said,Sean.

I can't wait to see these reports out in the mainstream, if they ever will be, but most of all, I'd like an audit of their books to see how ethical their business practices are.

As I've said before,I'd bet there is sleight-of-hand accounting that would make the books of the old Mafia chiefs look pristine by comparison.

It's bloody unbelievable that a fairly elected Government can't get an accounting from a Crown corporation! The Minister of Justice should be standing by with criminal charges if they find any of that type of activity.

Canadians are sick to death of cliques and protected elites living off US,while we struggle through boom and bust times trying to make our way.

  5. A few years back when Cherry's $400K contract was up for renewal, I read speculation that Peter (the windbag nuancer) Mansbridge was signed to a 3 Mil contract. But of course I have no details at all.

  6. Cherry, one of the very few success stories at CBC,is worth every cent they pay him, maybe even more. Mansbridge should be paid the going rate for a competent news reader in a small market who attracts a small share of that market.

I'd like to see a website that shows the market share of each broadcaster on a daily basis,so we'd know whether a certain program is popular,or not. But I doubt that CBC would want that.

Mansbridge should be compensated according to his market value, period.

I have no doubt Mansbridge, being the good Liberal lapdog he is,is paid WAY over his fair market value.

Maybe, just maybe, we'll finally find out.

  7. If Peter is just getting 3 million, he must be really upset that Katie Curic was signed for 15 million, and she is also a flop.
If Peter was the great man the cbc says he is, he would save them a lot of money in lawsuits and admit what his salary is.

  8. I stopped watching CBC news when Pety had Knowlton booted. Mansbridge sums up all that is wrong with the Ceeb. Even typing his name makes me want to puke.
