Can anyone confirm if CTV has chosen a replacement for Tom Clark, who is stepping aside of host of their daily politics information program? Jane Taber was hosting today, and I am curious to know if she is just standing in, or if she is the lead candidate to replace Clark. Neither Clark nor Taber (who does the Sunday show) were nominated in Evan Soloman's Gemini "Best Host of a News Information Program", which nominated entirely CBC hosts. Jane Taber is among the most biased editorialists in the Canadian media, and I have trouble believing that programming executives at CTV would see her as a viable long term option.
Is Jane Taber just a temporary host? Do we have any idea who is being considered for the job, or has it already been decided?
No clue if JT is a long term fill in but this goes to effectiveness of the show.
ReplyDeleteWill the host interrupt only one side talking points and let others have a free ride?
I have not watched either show on CTV or CBC for a very long time.
It does very little to add new information or improve the exchange of different ideas.
The hosts doesn't do enough research, have credibility to call each MP to the carpet for talking points or evading the questions.
Don Martin is hoping it will be Greg Weston.
ReplyDeleteAnyone know the viewership when Duffy hosted as compared to Clark.
For CTV to regain any credibility with political programming, they need to bring in a fresh, charismatic nobody.
ReplyDeleteNo current loudmouthed pundit from the ppg or Ottawa bias bubble, a FRESH FACE.
CBC is a lost cause entirely and I can guarantee, CTV would blow them out of the water if they would just listen to the complaints and realize that we are sick of self righteous, interrupting female and male buffoons interjecting their arrogance during these programs.
Some BALANCE, please and that is certainly not Giggles or her side kick, Owliver.
I have given up on CTV being fair and fair balanced. When CTV promoted Lisa LaFlamme to replace Lloyd Robertson I was sickened. All of Canada had watched her taunt the policemen in Toronto during the G20 while covering for violent protestors When CTV rewarded her for this, it showed disrespect for all law abiding citizens. There will be no moral center at CTV once Lloyd Robertson retires.
ReplyDeleteGiggles is godawful. What happened to Graham Richardson? He subbed twixt Duffy and Clark and did a reasonable job.
ReplyDeleteAt least his lefty slant is professional instead of glaringly fawning.
Syncro
Graham Richardson replaced Max Keeping as Senior Anchor of CJOH (CTV Ottawa)
ReplyDeleteI here Margaret Atwood might be looking for a job
ReplyDeleteCTV's afternoon and weekend political showslost me a year or so ago. Tabor gets that slot and I'll never watch any CTV news ever. Not wild about Lisa either.
ReplyDeleteBring on new TV news station.
How about Duffy - he was balanced and showed no affiliation to any of the Federal parties.
ReplyDeleteOr Pamela Wallin - another of those lefty media types.
ReplyDeleteI do not know who it would be. I stopped watching Power Politics after giving Clark a fair trial (Gave up on CBC a long time ago).
ReplyDeleteIf CTV cannot understand (what is happening) in the States (with Fox eating its competitions lunch ALL the time) then they will be left competing with CBC for left wing viewers after "SUNTV NEWS" starts up.
Is Tom going to SunTV News ?
ReplyDeleteMaybe Kory Tenyecke will be the new anchor for Power Play. Just thinking out loud.
ReplyDeleteI was impressed with Tom Clark, not so much with Jane Taber.
ReplyDeleteNever again will I watch CTV with Tom Clark gone. It was not fair at all that he was not the chosen one to take over for Lloyd Robertson. Who was the freak that was on Power Play yesterday? He will never make it and CTV's ratings will go down down down ....right down the tube.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to Tom Clark where ever he may go he will be and asset to any TV Station. One of the most professional people CTV ever had...
Clark's a big loss to CTV. I guess with Kevin Newman's spot at Global National being filled by Dawna Friesen, CTV decided to follow suit with LaFlamme. She may be okay, but Tom Clark, in my opinion, would have been a much smarter appointment. He's gone. No body is saying that that's the reason, but I'm sure it is. Too bad. He'll surface somewhere no doubt to their benefit. Maybe the Duff will give up his senate seat and come back to this side of the Hill. Yeah.
