George Soros Threatening To Sue Sun Media?
Does anyone else find it the least bit suspicious how much American billionaire George Soros seems invested in Canadian politics? Now word has it that he is threatening to sue one of Canada's media organizations, though the target of his threats should come as no surprise, the often sued Ezra Levant; who offered suggestions about how this Hungarian born Jew survived the Nazis. My own personal opinion of Ezra is that while there are times that I disagree with him, I think he's unhinged and has become a liability not only to himself, but for the Conservative movement that he claims to speak for. In this case, the article in the Globe does not state what exactly his comments were, and his original op-ed has since been pulled from Sun Media. I would be more upset about George Soros suing Sun Media if it were not Ezra Levant who wrote the words that brought the fury.

I think you might be right about the all too often sued Ezra. After a while, does it not seem like maybe you're pushing the envelope a bit too far when your name is synonymous with the phrase, 'court of law?' Unless, of course you're a judge. Or a lawyer.
ReplyDeleteGee, why let the leftists shut down dissent and debate with their law-fare tactics, when you have conservatives who are more than willing to do the dirty deeds for them?
ReplyDeletePerhaps Ezra gets sued because the truth hits a little too close to home..Soros collaborated with the Nazis by helping with the finding and turning in of Jews, for which he was paid.
If I were Soros, I wouldn't want that to be known either..
The left sue to intimidate free speech. I applaud all who are not afraid. The national press Gallery show of cowardess is failing our country. Stand up to the USA avaaz.org instead of working with them. Canada should be promoting free speech.
ReplyDeleteEzra Levant is a true Canadian hero, and should be defended by all right thinking people, as one who speaks the truth - far too rare these days - all the suing is being done by left wing whack jobs who love to hide their agendas, and lash out at those who remind them. How many of these suits succeed ?

ReplyDeletego read it
OK - granted, he's managed to win a lot of battles. But does he have to be so incendiary? He's asking for it. It's not like he's defending himself. He's poking people in the eye, and then playing the victim when they get angry.
ReplyDeleteHRC goes way too far with people's rights, but winning a challenge is one thing - not taking care to use your words in such a way as to incite is completely another.
Sorry, that's how I feel. There are certain things you can attribute to people, but accusing people (not simply alluding to the possibility) is just making you a leftist from the wrong side of the spectrum.
...if you go out looking for a fight with a leftist, you will find it. Because there is a LOT to fight with them about.
ReplyDeleteAnd I will admit that in this particular case, I don't know much about Soros other than what I've read here - this example may be a valid one, but geez, you can state your opinion in such a way as to avoid libel!
HS,
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ezra is a firecracker. I disagree with the imbalance of HRC and those using it to stifle free speech.
The alleged victims should bear the cost and let it be settled in a real court. Leave the Kangaroos in the outback.
Ezra repeated an oft stated story that Soros (born a Jew w/ original name: Schwartz) survived Nazi rule by changing his name and having his father allegedly pay an official to adopt George as his own. That official was involved in the confiscation of Jewish property for the Nazis which George himself was involved.
ReplyDeleteAs such, Ezra has called Soros a Nazi collaborator. It's a nasty label. However, if the story is true -- and Soros himself has acknowledge it to be -- then Soros has no leg to stand on because in all technical accuracy his actions fall under the realm of being a Nazi collaborator.

ReplyDeleteExra spoke the truth, it is well known now what Soros was and is like and there is even commentary in the media to support what Ezra wrote. Sorry, but Soros is just pissed that his back door slide into Canada for Euro-socialists isn't going to well. Nor should it really. (real conservative)
ReplyDeleteSoros is a Obama guy, Obama is a socialist, if Conservatism takes hold of Canada, capitalists move from the US to Canada. Obama doesn't get re-elected. Soros problem with SUN TV is simply socialist verses capitalist.
ReplyDeleteEzra says outrageous stuff to get attention. What he said was nasty and he better be right or he is in for a world of painful litigation. If Ezra can prove that Soros was a nazi collaborator (a most pernicious allegation) then he's got nothing to worry about. If he said this nasty stuff and it is not true or exagerrated then Ezra deserves to lose the pound of flesh that the court will extract.
ReplyDeletePerhaps Ezra has a right to talk about this. I would anticipate that he fully researched this--he is an experienced editorialist, and he is also a Jew.
ReplyDeleteAs someone mentioned in one of the other blogs, litigation would allow "discovery" of George Soros' basis for a libel suit. Does Soros really want that?
Let's see how much money can buy (besides, allegedly the CBC, CTV and most MSM). I agree the pushback from someone like Black could be interesting.
Well, it turns out Ezra's column was entirely false and he retracted and apologized for it. He says such nasty outrageous things for attention. How many apologies has he issued 4 or is it 5. He just cannot be counted on to be responsible. Jumping on his bandwagon embarrasses everybody.
ReplyDeleteSoros is regularly mentioned on Glenn Beck as part of OBAMA clan, Glenn also has tapes, videos articles written by said by Soros himself. And if you listen to Glenn he tells you what Soros did to him or tried to do. Yes, for that scare Glenn lost a lot of viewers which he said so himself. But, as time passed and viewers return. Now Glenn and FOX are the top rating network over CNN NBC ETC combined.
ReplyDeleteI personally watch FOX and Glenn.
Stand up for 'FREE SPEECH'
well surecure might just get this blog sued by good ole George Soros as he is repeating Ezra's lies. And to the other folks who allude to the truthiness of Ezra's charges: look up the words "apology" and "retraction"
ReplyDeleteLOL

ReplyDeleteI deleted my comments to make a point about how $$$= censorship
ReplyDeleteWhy did the Sun back down? I'll tell you why, because they fear being sued for years on end in court by a world famous billionaire. It doesn't matter if Soros is a fricking liar, he will still win or at least cost the Sun chain many millions of dollars. The accusations flung at Soros are a result of what Soros has said to other credible people out of his own mouth and which were published for crying out loud. But now he can say it wasn't true and twist it like any lefty can by tying it up in the court system for years on end. A better example to prove what Soros is really like is his recent actions and his hypocrisy, rich but a socialist. (real conservative)
ReplyDeleteLevant should not be sued for what he wrote about Soros; Defamation Law is an anachronistic threat to Free Speech designed to protect the rich and powerful from criticism by the Unwashed.
ReplyDeleteThat said, Levant is a hypocrite. He sues and threatens to sue people for saying things about him he does not like.
Levant has also removed the offending column from his own website, effectively censoring himself. So much for this guy's free speech credentials and alleged lawyerly prowess.
Levant is living proof of a kind of karma in the world of media and politics -- the fool has been hoist upon his own petard...Again.
My guess?
ReplyDeleteInternational Jewish Organizations, i.e.: the Simon Wiesenthal Center would probably be in a very good, and well documented, position to verify or "refudiate" Levant's original comments, no?
