Farewell Kory Teneycke

I was sad to see that Kory Teneycke will be stepping down from his position atop the fledgling Sun TV news network, but he has a point when he describes becoming a lightning rod for the opponents of this project. Regardless of his qualifications, the fact that he was the communications director for the Prime Minister puts a dark storm cloud over his head in the eyes of the left. Does his resignation increase the probability that the CRTC grants them CBC/CTV type status? I have absolutely no idea, but it is plausible. I will be interested to see who is chosen as his replacement, and I fully expect he or she to be vilified by Don Newman et all.

  1. The Sun News TV project will now be led by Quebecor's Luc Lavoie, formerly a member of PM Brian Mulroney's staff.

  2. Yes, if you remove the lightning rod the angry Canadian liberals, American Liberals will have to find another person to attack.

Alberta Ardvark has noted the Liberal journos who are celebrating with drinks at the decision of Kory.

This reminds me of the campaign against Sarah Palin by the angry Liberals in the US and Canada.

  3. I am sure he will be back, he's just sitting out this Avaaz thing.

  4. I wonder if Avaaz is having anyone else investigated over illegitimate signatures, in addition to Kory. Their director said on P and P tonight that some 100 bogus sigs were removed from the petition. Is Avaaz accusing Kory of complicity in all those signatures? Inquiring minds want to know.

  5. I just watched his press conference, and Kory was most certainly NOT happy to be making that announcement. The allegations that seemed to bother him the most were the conspiracy theories involving Stephen Harper.

  6. Kory will do well no matter what he chooses to do. I think it was a brilliant strategic move on Kory's part. Remove the target, make it moveable. It will drive them nuts.

  7. Kory is a quitter. He dug this hole with his smarmy attitude trying to force Fox News/Sun onto everybody’s cable bill and portraying it as a freedom of speech issue. And now he’s bailing out. Good riddance.

  8. Anything connected to the Conservative PM, is deemed a 'black cloud' thatis: Alberta, canada, military.
CBC CTV has become playmates for SOROS to use as he pleases.

  10. You should have heard the smarmy comments coming from Jane Taber, Bob Fife and Jim Travers over Kory Teneyeckes removal from Sun TV. On QP yesterday. The came close to condeming Kory for the fiasco with the so called petition. Question to these three why don't investigate the AVAAZ organization and its founder George Soros to see what this Organization is all about.

  11. OFF Topic: Paul Viera's column in the National Post of Sept 16, 2010.

"Meanwhile, NDP Leader Jack Layton said his party would be pushing for additional government spending when the House of Commons returns on Monday. He said the NDP agrees with U.S. President Barack Obama, as opposed to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, in terms of what the economy requires.
Mr. Layton charged the Conservatives’ economic plan was following “some rigid ideology,” as opposed to dealing with the reality of relatively high unemployment."

"Mr. Layton’s push echoes comments from earlier this week from Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff, who said in a broadcast interview that Mr. Harper might be premature in cutting off stimulus early next year. Plus, he said Canadians have told him during his summer bus tour that the economy is not as robust as Mr. Harper suggests."

Does this mean that budget cuts are off the table?

  12. I hope the smarmy, gloating media are feeling guilty. Hopefully Aavez will now get parked in a dark closet. Kory will find lots to do until the channel is approved.
