Aurevoir Michaelle Jean

Today's poll question; how would you rate Michaelle Jean's term as Governor General? I confess that I strongly disapproved of another CBC journalist being appointed to the post, but I strongly approved of her job performance. While I would still vote in favour of the dissolution of the office of the Governor General, MJ did remind us all of the important role the position can play in our parliamentary democracy.

Ironically on her way at the door, the CBC chose to pay specific attention to the fact that it took her two hours to decide whether or not to prorogue when the coalition threatened to topple the government in December 2008. She really needed time to think about it. Far be it from me to speculate what was going through her mind in those fateful two hours, all I know is that she had the legal power to make Stephane Dion Prime Minister and did not. Michaelle, for that I will be forever grateful.

Thank you Michaelle, for stopping this dead in its tracks. You did our country a great service.

  1. What's a Governor General? Oh right, someone else living off my tax dollar. Hoopla, you can't have enough of those. Iceman, you were really impressed by Michaelle Jean? How did she make one single nano-difference to you in your life? She didn't, and neither will the next Governor Sponge. Let's get off this retarded ride.

  3. We could have had PM Dion, who Iggy is positive would have resigned to give him the top job. I have never believed Dion would have quit.
Remember Iggy saying, I could have been PM-blah blah.
I wonder how many non lberals, or even liberals even believe Dion would have quit the top job.

  4. She became a 'star', which Canadians loved, but she was out of bounds (activist) numerous times re: the mandate of the Office of GG.

  5. I for one do NOT support Michaelle Jean, and am glad that she is gone.

Despite who would have ended up Prime Minister (I didn't care for either option), Jean prevented democracy from taking place.

There is a reason why there are processes in place should a confidence motion fail. Confidence motions, whether they pass or fail are part of Canada's democratic process. Jean, allowing the government their prorogation to dodge the bullet is NOT democratic.

She should have been recalled by the Queen. Or, at the very least, forced to give an explanation for her decision.

    Good riddance to her.
