What's The Greatest Threat To Canadian Security?

As we approach the ten year anniversary of 9/11, what do you think is the greatest threat to Canadian security? That is going to be today's poll question later this afternoon following a short nomination/suggestion period (your suggestions, both serious and sarcastic are encouraged). The Prime Minister seems to have offended some people on the left by suggesting recently that Islamic terrorists remain the most dangerous threat to our security. So is he spreading hatred or being realistic. Aside from terrorists, other legitimate threats would include drug cartels, gangs, anarchists, international spies, ninjas, mother nature, aliens from outer space, vikings, hippies, Mongol hoards, and last but not least socialists.

Am I forgetting anyone?

  1. Our Prime Ministers only error is GWC
That is to say Governing whilst Conservative!
I must also say governing very successfully indeed!
The Left is in shock, it's enough to make them put on their 'Che t shirts and get another "freedom flotilla" organized to their brothers in Gaza.

  3. Actually the greatest threat to our freedom, way of life and security are the Politically Correct.
The NDP and NDP Lite Liberals are the most naive, people since Neville Chamberlain.

  6. Remember the ANTI-TERRORIST BILL' that was re-introduce by the Conservative from the Liberals?

Well, the conservatives were the only party to stand for our nation and the safety of all canadians.

The libs, ndp and the bloc voted down the bill.

This goes to show you where the opposition loyalty lies.

  9. I would suggest that most threats on your list, except maybe Mother Nature, Aliens and Vikings, and I'm not 100% sure about the Vikings, are the result of left wing socialist policies dating back to the '60s so I voted for "Socialists".

  10. Given that PM Harper was in line for a beheading had that one particular jehadist group succeeded, he has a right to be a tad sensitive.

  11. Well said, Frances.

PM Harper's comments resonated with one blogger in the US.

"Prime Minister Stephen Harper says where it concerns Canada's security "the major threat is still Islamicism." The Tory leader elaborated that "Islamicism" is a major threat whether it comes from abroad or from within Canada's borders.

Senator Joe Lieberman was absolutely right to criticize the Obama Administration last week for calling acts of terror committed in the name of Islam "violent extremism" rather than "violent Islamist extremism." Needless to say, we will never hear "Islamicism" or "violent Islamist extremism" traverse the lips of President Obama nor anyone else in his administration. So long as the Obama Administration is unwilling to identify our enemies and the ideology which motivates their actions, we will not be able to defeat them."

The PM tells it like it is, void of political correctness. How refreshing.

  13. Sorry to be posting as anonymous instead of Powell Lucas as I usually do, but these morons at Google are driving me to distraction. Almost every time I attempt to post using Bloggers they reject my name or password and I have to go to the trouble of resetting it. I don't like to hide my identity, but I've closed all my Google accounts.

My selection for the biggest threat to Canadian security is the CBC and their minister of propaganda, Evan Soloman. Both the mother corp and Soloman worship at the shrine of Joseph Goebbels "big lie" mantra. Today, Soloman was having an apoplectic fit over the report issued by the Rideau Institute (Another left-wing think tank) that claimed Canada had spent 92 billion dollars on "security" over the last decade. What Soloman failed to mention was that this figure included the money spent to salvage our military after years of Liberal slash and burn policies. it also didn't mention that much of the increased costs for the RCMP were as a result of heavy recruitment to bolster a staff that was badly depleted and to meet minority quotas instituted by the Liberal. The report didn't take into account the increase in the wage scale over ten years, nor did it make allowances for inflation which impacted equipment replacement. I would also be willing to bet that the cost of the Afghanistan war was also included. I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that if these numbers were disected it would turn out that the amount of increased spending that went, for what most people consider as security enhancements, would be less than half the number quoted. It's one thing for some "progressive" think tank to publish these fudged figures (remember: figures don't lie, but liars figure.) but Soloman did not attempt to question these source of these numbers, or what was included in the total, as any reputable journalist would have done. With the dissemination of this type of report left in the hands of the CBC and Evan Soloman, the public gets a totally distorted view of what the government is doing and I fear they are being brainwashed into believing that we don't need either our armed forces or our security forces.

  14. Finally.A western leader with the balls to tell it like it is.Just Cameron in Britain speaking about multiculturalism.

Listen up you leftists and jihadists,Your losing this propaganda war due to Islamic extremists keep making your apologists look like fools.Actions speak much louder than nice words.

The CBC quotes "experts".Who are these experts?Let them come foward instead of using old world propaganda techniques from the 20th century.

The war against the West is on.Its been happening since these Islamists hijacked the religion named Islam.

We are now in the long war that will take decades even centuries until these Islamic jihadists adopt a non violent position and keep their fascist ideology out of govt and society.Reform it or lose it.We will defend ourselves and muslims who are my neighbours and friends, who have rejected Jihadist doctrine.

  15. Threats will always change. What is a threat today might be benign tomorrow and another rises.Islamists are a threat, but so are chinese hacker espionage. We can level the playing field against chinese hackers by understanding the network that is the internet and develop countermeasures to protect ourselves.

Its time we started knocking on the Chinese firewall stifling freedom of speech inside China.Non violently.

  16. Just a note on the poll... you put 'socialists' down 8 times. You should amalgamate them all into one group. Here are the alternate 'socialist' categories you should remove: Anarchists, The CBC, Environmental activists, Bankers, Non-Islamic terrorists, Islamic terrorists, and Aliens

    Cheers

  18. "The major threat is still Islamicism,” said Harper" (clipped from Toronto Sun article)

As I am just an ordinary citizen, I have to go with what the person in the know has to say.

I believe our largest threat is Islamicism.
