Justin Trudeau; There Will Be No Rematch

Having defied the expectations of many partisans and non partisans alike, pulling off an upset in a charity boxing match against Senator Brazeau, Justin Trudeau will not allow his opponent an opportunity to redeem himself. He's done. Retiring on top. Given that Justin proclaimed his victory to be a symbolic representation of the fight between Liberals and Conservatives, losing the rematch would itself be ripe with symbolism. As Apollo Creed said to Rocky at the end of the fight in Rocky 1, "there will be no rematch". He probably knows that he was lucky to win, and even though a rematch would likely raise even more money for cancer research that the original fight, he's had enough. It makes sense from a self image perspective. Muhammad Ali won both rematches against Joe Frazier. Lennox Lewis creamed Hollyfield in their rematch. Rocky won the second fight against Creed. If you win, that's basically as good as it is going to get. Who wouldn't want to go out on top instead of risking embarrassment in a rematch?

Is Justin Trudeau retiring from charity boxing because he's preparing a run at the Liberal leadership next year? Today's poll question, why do you think Trudeau is denying his defeated opponent a chance at redemption?

  1. Trudeau has nothing to gain by doing a rematch. He's gotten a million dollars worth of positive publicity and should cruise to LPC leader by 2015.

He'd be a fool to bother with another stunt that could backfire.

I wouldn't consider Trudeau's win an upset. He has boxed,he says, for 20 years, though I think he means "worked out on boxing equipment and sparred a bit", while Brazeau had no boxing experience.

Brazeau was simply outboxed by a guy that fought like a ten year old, first year boxer,no jab and sidearm slap-punching.

Trudeau looked like most boxing novices I've seen in their first week in a real boxing club, yet he WON! Maybe God was on his side.

Now,Justin, shut your big yap in the House, and try to conduct yourself with some dignity, unlike your interim Leader. Do so,and you've got a lock on the LPC leadership.

  2. I'm no Justin fan. Far from it, but I too have a bucket list, and I don't intend to repeat anything I have crossed out.

  3. Justine is just like his old man, in that he was able to get away with it once, and knows full well he wouldn't get away with it again. No one in they're right mind would let Turdo Sr. get away with his destruction of Canada again, thats why he went for broke with his only chance and made it virtually impossible for anyone in the future to undo his warped vision. Turdo jr. isn't as ugly as his old man, but he is just as arrogant, entitled and warped. Turdo Sr. and Turdo Jr. had the unknown element going for them... Sr. with his unhinged hateful destructive ideology and vindictivness, and Jr. with his foxy boxing "skills". Justine won fair and square against an ill prepared opponent and girly punched his way to victory, giving his opponent another chance would undo the illusion, just like the old man the illusion is better then the reality. Never give the illusion a chance to be undone by a do over.

  4. How about a rematch in mixed martial arts and see how jr makes out in Brazeau's play pen.

  5. Does any so called Conservative out there even give a hoot about the fact that a terrorist is returning to Canada. And does the fact that this terrorist get free health care, dental care, free medical prescriptions, free legal counsel and even the right to vote from prison even concern anyone out here?

    2. It will be a Harper Conservative decision to let Khadr back in the country.

  6. Bet Justine Trudeau or any Lib/NDP won't get on a plane with Omar Khadr....maybe Mansbridge can have him move in with him. CBC will be the first to pay the guy for his "story".

As far as Trudeau, I hope is is the |Liberal Leader...then we will see him talking in the 3rd person again like the a$$ he is.Drama Queer..

  7. What are you....a fucking idiot.

    HE'S A POLITICIAN...NOT A BOXER....

Why the fuck should he have a rematch...he has nothing to prove.

This isn't Cassius Clay vs Sony Liston...

This was a charity event....I mean you must have your head up your ass to even talk about a rematch....

    1. The rematch would raise even more money for cancer research than the original fight. What's wrong with that? My sister happens to be fighting breast cancer, so that's "why the fuck" I might encourage a rematch. The first fight was for a great cause, and so would be the second fight. But hey, I must have my head up my ass, which reminds me to encourage aging males to get prostate exams.
