Helena Trying To Blackmail Her Way Back Into Caucus?

Helena Guergis wants back into the Conservative caucus and to expedite the process she has publicly stated that she is sitting on information which could damage the party. "I could be on the attack, I really could" she said on television, "I really hope I’m not pushed further away from the caucus". Very mature Helena, blackmail is not the best way to go about returning to your former party, threatening to damage the careers of the people you aspire to work with. I had previously been of the opinion that if she is cleared of any wrong doing she should be allowed back into caucus, but now that she is engaging in blackmail, I've had a change of heart. That's a deal breaker for me. I don't think that even Garth Turner ever stooped that low.

That she is engaging in this behavior is proof that the decision to remove her from caucus was sound.

Blackmail: "The act of threatening to reveal information about a person to the public, a family member, or associates unless a demand is met. This information is usually of an embarrassing, socially damaging, and/or incriminating nature. As the information is substantially true, the act of revealing the information may not be criminal in its own right nor amount to a civil law defamation; it is the making of demands in exchange for withholding the information that is often considered a crime."

  1. Where is the PI that started all this.

  2. Perhaps the media can provide a live televised special to include a body cavity search to find the evidence she is sitting on that was missed by the RCMP.

We should call Geraldo Rivera he did a great job with the Al Capone vault.

  3. As a member of the Simcoe-Grey EDA I recently received a letter from our current independent MP, Hon. Helena Guergis, PC, dated July 30, 2010. In it she includes, from a July 22, 2010 statement "I think it is time for a face to face meeting between the PM and I. He can raise his concerns, whatever they are, and I can answer. I have never been offorded this opportunity".

Now it appears that she was offorded that opportunity, as noted in an interview in MACLEANS (http://www2.macleans.ca/2010/08/06/helena-guergis-in-conversation/) but attached some strings to the deal and the meeting fell through. Gosh I guess it's time for another media blitz to get the word out. Along comes Peter C. Newman and presto...

"Q: Do you still believe in the Conservative party?
A: I don’t believe in some of the people in the Conservative party. I believe that the Prime Minister has been given some really, really bad advice. I don’t know who or why—clearly Mr. Giorno is a part of that. I think there are a few people who need to be removed from the situation and the Prime Minister needs to have a sit-down, heart-to-heart, one-on-one with me. I think that would be very good, not only for both of us but for the party. I have written to him and asked him personally [for a meeting], and he had agreed to sit down and talk to me. Then I sent a message that I’m not prepared to talk about my husband. I’m fair game—anything you want to ask—but I’m not going to discuss my husband’s case or any details. He cancelled the meeting.

Q: Where will it all end?
A: I really hope I’m not pushed further away from the caucus, or from the Prime Minister. I know that I’m not being 100 per cent complimentary, but I think you know I could say a heck of a lot more. If I were inclined to be that kind of person, I could be on the attack, I really could."

The last answer sais it all. Seems it has come down to the end game now. I did so support her at one time and cannot believe she would go this far. I now think that PMSH made the right call albeit maybe for the wrong reasons.

  4. Once Helena Guergis started talking blackmail - the game is over.

Maybe she did get a raw deal from the party and the PM, but that is the cost of playing on the sidelines in the way that she and Rahim Jaffer have.

You don't save one crewman at the cost of the ship. The party and the PM will go on. Helena Guergis should be looking for a new line of work.

  5. Helena, is focusing her anger on the wrong crew and as I have been rather 'mum" on my support of her, these chilsish threats and innuendoes have P'd me O..!

Grow up, Helena! Seriously! The Opps, decimated you, your character and the PM stood by you!The Opposition and Media, destroyed your credibility and were relentless in their attacks on your hubby.
What the he!! is wrong with you?

Okay, after that rant by me and reading the comments by "bverwey", you are done Helena! I was in your camp but threatening the garbage that you are is DISGUSTING!

  6. The opposition will just love this. Guergis can now say anything that comes into her vapid mind, without verification, and the lefties will be all over it like white on rice; these losers are great at jumping to the attack especially when there are no credible facts to back up the lies. Innuendo and smear is their stock in trade. Perhaps the PM has appointed Mr. Baird to his new position in anticipation of this very thing. He may be getting ready to refute the accusations that will spew like sewage from the mouths of the opposition once they get this incompetent twit to start running off at the mouth. Baird is the perfect counter puncher.

  7. Thats the end of her. The stupid cow. It has to go hard for her now. You can't get back in after saying something like that. It would imply it was true.

  8. I am not a legal expert so perhaps someone can enlighten me; at what point does this become prosecutable blackmail? You can easily draw the conclusion when she says that she has damaging information and "I could be on the attack, I really could." If she is not reinstated and then starts leaking this information that she threatened to release, is that when it becomes a criminal offense? Or are there grounds to charge based on this one interview?

  9. Helena can go ahead an spill whatever she knows, but she can't realistically expect that it will somehow make her a hero or more employable in this field. She is finished in politics, and her failure to recognize that is astounding.

Me thinks...her troubles with the law are only just beginning.
Her husband is a snorter...100.00 bucks says she is as well.
She thinks she has the goods on the conservatives, truth is... some-one has the goods on her and Rahim...another 100.00 bucks says, if she goes the blackmail route, it backfires and she ends up getting blackmailed.

Ah Earth to Helena....if you want back in cabinet...kick that powder habit it's affecting your judgement ....can't you tell.?...we can.!

  11. Geez people, give your collective heads a shake.

Helena didn't threaten to dish out the dirt. She simply said that she could fight back. If I was in her position I certainly would.
For this she's described as a 'stupid cow' and accused of snorting cocaine.
It would appear that Harper supporters are just as ruthless as the man himself.

  12. re bverwey:

Just so you know - there is no person on the Simcoe-Grey EDA (Electoral District Association, or, Board) now or in the past, called "bverwey" or anything remotely close.

Perhaps the poster was referring to being a Simcoe-Grey constituent.

    Big difference...
