Charles Adler Leading Poll of Best Pundit in Canada

In my web poll of the best opinionist in Canada, Charles Adler is out to an early lead. My readers really like the "Boss of Talk". I listen to his show every night on CKNW 980 in Vancouver at 7pm Pacific. The candidate that I endorsed, Andrew Coyne, is 14% behind Adler. I just don't understand how 1/4 of my readership would want to go to Chantal Hebert first for "op-ed" on breaking news? Authorities at "Statcounter" may have to investigate allegations of erroneous polling results. Could a single Hebert loyalist have seen the poll and alerted sympathizers? Who can say? The poll continues...

Results as of my writing this post:

Charles Adler 28 (34%)
Chantal Hebert 20 (24%)
Andrew Coyne 17 (20%)
Rex Murphy 8 (9%)
Kelly McParland 8 (9%)
Don Newman 1 (1%)

  1. I am assuming then that Don Martin, Rick Mercer, or Jim Traverse do not visit my site. I am glad to see that none of my readers want to go to Scott Reid first.

  2. I just got here, and I like Coyne myself. As for the other poll, I find Michael Moore the most repulsive, as he will prove to be in the end, the overwhelming king of smut.

  3. Iceman:

I voted for Hebert not for what she says, but for what she alludes to by not saying.
She is more closet separatist than leftwing, so the CBC/TORSTAR keep her around as a token (which frankly I find a bit of an insult to her). Somehow though I think she knows it and plays the Toronto centric media like a harp from hell....but then thats another reason I respectfully acknowledge her work.
Not neccessarily agree with, but I do respect it.
Adler, while he does have some good commentary, tends to come across like he's trying to be the Rush Limbaugh of Canada. There can be only one Rush, and Chucky ain't him.

  4. A bit of a disconnect between your question as to who a reader would go first to and who (according to your headline) is the "best pundit." I might go first to Adler (though probably not) out of curiosity as to what occluded right wing perspective is possible: but I would certainly not turn to him for profundity!

  5. Love or hate Adler - You all have an option.
Take it or leave it - Move on!

  6. It's a coyne flip for me - Coyne or Hebert. Coyne i guess. Never heard Adler speak as I can't afford a radio.

  7. Libertarians are funny. They hold no governments and never will.

Try not paying your taxes and see where that gets you.

  8. No Paul Wells? He'd be right up there with Coyne in my books.

  9. Where's Lorne Gunter and/or David Warren ???
Assuming Don Martin was added as dark humor?
Personally, I like Rush & find him astute but, a bit of an apples & oranges inclusion, eh?

  10. Obviously a crowd of righties visit this blog!

  11. Interesting poll for being non-scientific. If a vote is based on the pure intelligence it is Hebert or Newman hands down. If a vote is based on non-partisanship it would have to be Mercer or Newman. As for the non-Canadians on the list I see them all, including the ones who are of my political leanings, as having a political axe to grind. This is how I view the leader, Chucky, and therefore couldn't vote for him. His style of polarization take him out of the running for me. Adler's type of style is a reflection of the Americanization of Canadian politics. It is something I despise but I realize the popularity of it.

  14. Adler comes across as authentic, one of us, a regular Canadian, and above all shares our values. Its not a surprise that he would lead the punditry.

  15. I just wish that Uncle Chuck Adler could host a national TV opinion show such as Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reilly does with FOX NEWS in the U.S. But alas the left wing liberal establishment would never allow it to happen here...as they are in total control of the bureaucracy which is the CRTC and the left-wing driven media agenda in this country of Canada.

  16. YA Adler
i would listen him to every day but for school

  17. Actually the best pundit in my view is Dave Rutherford in Calgary - But hey, we Westerners are used to being left out.

  18. Roy Green ... week-ends at 2pm EST three hour show for those who are not socialist idiots.

  19. Where are Roy Greem, Michael Coren and Dave Rutherford on this poll?

  20. that should be Roy Green, not Greem. oops!

  21. charles adler is a pompous windbag. He can be entertaining if he would yell a little less. The Bourque site has been shilling for him for quite some time.

Obviously a Nobel Prize for Adler is long overdue.

  22. Who the hell is this Adler guy? Only heard of him on Bourque.

  23. Actually I would vote for Dave Rutherford if he was on the list. No east/west comment here because Charles Adler is not a 'GTA easterner' in my opinion.

  24. Don't know if he qualifies but Steve Paikin is an absolute gem. There is a reason he was chosen to moderate the english language leaders debates in '08.

Honourable last place mention to Lowell Green of 580 cfra in Ottawa. I mean, who could honestly rail against public libraries. He's even angry when he's agreeing with something.

  25. Listened to Alder and Green. They broke the mold when they made Green. Wish there was a soundboard with his quotes. Alder is pale in comparison. He could never fill Peter Warren's shoes. Green and Warren are/were hilarious.

  26. I vote for Charles Adler. Twice he has reduced me to tears, once for playing the entire Amazing Grace song. He cuts to the core but is very compassionate when needed. He is not petty. And he's not like others who's goal is just to upset when unnecessary. The second person I might have voted for, if not for Charles, would have been Richard Cloutier

  27. I'm voting for Charles,Even if I'm not intrested in the topic of the day he make it intresting.I have been a loyal listner of Adler nation since the Coalition nightmare.

  28. First starting listening to Chuck a year ago, now everyday from 1:oo to 3:00 can't miss it. Keep it up!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I listen to Charles Adler every week day here in Toronto. He's without a doubt 'the best'!
Keep up the great work Chuck!

  30. I like Adler, too. By the way, Iceman, it's spelled "whose", not "who's".

  31. Talk radio is a right wing wasteland, divorced from the Canadian mainstream. Addled Charles confuses loud, emphatic bluster with profundity; five minutes of his nonsense and I change stations.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I voted for Charles because right after David Rutherford, he is first.

    ReplyDelete
  33. i voted for Chuck because he is never right and in this way, create an atmosphere of generalization where myths are seen as facts
